I guess a source might be in order: http://wccftech.com/nvidia-pascal-gpu-gtc-2015/ (and for the love of all that's good, don't read the comments to that article, it's enough to make anyone sad).

Thing with waiting for graphics card is there is always a new one rumoured. It's the same as phones, if you keep waiting because something better is coming, you'll end up never getting anything. ;D
I'm considering waiting til black friday deals though. I've got a 780ti at the moment so it's not like I desperately need to upgrade, but it's a long time to wait and I like having shiny things naow.

While yes, there will be constant upgrades and new things coming out, this will be a generational leap rather than something that builds on what's already there. The later 700 series up to 900 series uses the Maxwell architecture, and that was a big deal when it came out because of how much better it was than the previous generation. A 980ti is still very much an upgrade to a 780ti, but not nearly as big as with the upper end 600 cards compared to a 780ti. If what we've been told about Pascal turns out to be true (and there might be a bit of skewed information going on here, after all, It's Nvidia that provides it, and they want their new stuff to look great), the Maxwell->Pascal upgrade will be greater than the Kepler->Maxwell upgrade (Kepler was their name for the architecture used before Maxwell).

Would these GPU with new architectures require to get a new motherboard to be able to use them ?

No, any PCI-E port should work (of the right size obviously, and not if it's a 1.0a port because even though those "should" work, there are known issues. If you have one of those, buying such a high end card would probably be a waste though, as you'll have a bottleneck somewhere else)

Once you get that video card, you will finally be able to play Bad Rats in Ultra High Stereo 3D HD.

just ordered another 16gb of ddr4 ram and got half the money together for a 980ti, so I'm a happy girl. :D thought it deserved a giveaway. also it's hump day and as far from the weekend as you can get, bleh.
i promise it's skyrim not bad rats
edit: lots of people asked, feel free to enter if you only have the base game, the dlcs are the more expensive bit and, imho, the game sucks without them.
