At the Christmas sale, I only spent €11 on purchases. Having a crap laptop to limit your purchases really helps, even when it was my first steam sale.

I'm in the same case, though that didn't stop me from getting AC 1 and 2 way long ago... Stupid I know, but I'm learning now.

In my case it was sometimes for "when I have a new better rig", but it never happens :p.

I'd advise you get a large wishlist on the ready now, since there's a lot of 'stealth sales' that dont show up on the store front page that are still very, very good. I don't have a large budget either (60'ish $), but I'm certain you can get a significant number of games regardless. Coal was very much tradeable last sale (snagged total war 2 and portal 2 for a friend with ~12 coal). Never mind the potential for coupons (that STACK with the page discounts), there's free games given out too. Case in point, I GOT THE ENTIRE VALVE PACK FOR FREE FOR DOING A SINGLE ACHIEVEMENT. Trust me, steam rewards its customers extremely well.

I'll have like £20 and I'm trying my best not to spend anything as I save up to but money towards my PC (for my birthday) in August. I won't have to put loads towards it but I'm still trying to save.
So far I haven't been very good at this saving game, and this really won't help xD

I'ma try to keep it under $100, I needs to hold on to some gas money :(

Well looking at his game count he might just be planning on getting a ton of stuff he has been wanting.
I usually only spend around 15-30 on these sales myself, they come often Imo(Summer, Halloween, Winter) so I don't see the point in buying everything at once, only so much I can play at a time.

the OP actually wants to get games to play.. and would also like to get some for his two most active friends :)

No more than 15€used on this Winter sale, I reckon 40$ would be enough, unless you still don't have most indie titles and really interesting AAA.
I only have 7€ right now, and it might even be too much, epsecially once you get to do some trading.

Save up so you can preorder the Borderlands 2 Ultimate Loot Chest Edition. That's what I'm doing.

I can't think of anything I will buy in this sale.
The games I want are unreleased or just released so the discounts won't be great.

Summer sale? Oh no! Now srsly - 40$ isn't bad. You can buy lot of games in big sales. But sometimes saving money is better. I wanna buy just Alan Wake. And ALL Killing Floor DLCs. And Serious Sam HD Pack maybe. And ... DAMN!

I have $40 Steam Wallet, and I'm told that this isn't enough for the summer sale xD
I know the summer sale is probably weeks away. Recommend some purchases to me, please. I want to make the most of what I got :)
