Yes, but the minimum cpu is atleast 10% better, and i don't own indy, it was more a guess after i heard it from a friend he played it on a steamdeck with low fps, for sure my pc is a bit better.
I would want indy in the future, if my pc can handle it, i mean i lived for a long time with a 430GT card until i had this pc, i am very used to minimum requirements, but right now there are just so many other games that take preference.
Let alone an upgrade in the nearby future, and i had the pc build by the shop, and i had no problems in the past changing hardware, but it's all build in so thight these days, i wouldn't even know how to change my motherboard.
And i don't have a car and my pc weighs 25 kg, so it's not a simple case of going to the shop.
Comment has been collapsed.
how bad is indy playing for you? i have an i5 10600k and rtx 2070 with the game installed on an m.2 nvme ssd. i was kinda worried after reading the min/rec specs on steam, but i just loaded it up for the first time (gamepass) and i'm getting 60 fps. now i'm thinking i might run into trouble later in the game.
also, i know it's a stupid question, but are your drivers updated? the updates nvidia puts out for game releases can work wonders.
disabling the 'game filters and photo mode' in nvidia app settings can give a few extra fps.
Comment has been collapsed.
I don't own indy, it was more a wild guess (my a bit expensive atm and i got many other games i would want first like FF Rebirth) i just heard from a friend that he tried it on the steamdeck with low fps.
I thought the difference between a 8700k and the minimum required 10700k would be large, but it's about 10% and for sure my pc would still be somewhat better then a steamdeck.
Comment has been collapsed.
If you really want to play it and/or test your pc you could get it, try it out and refund it if you can't play or spare the cash at the moment. The friend whose build i linked wanted to play helldivers 2 but the minimum listed was 1050ti and he had a 1050 so he decided it's time... Not even baldur's gate 3 got him to upgrade and he said exploding barrels could nuke his pc :).
Comment has been collapsed.
To try it out if it runs okay, but if you can't spare the cash it seems unwise, and i could always "borrow" a copy, that's no issue, never had but at one point i ended up just getting everything on steam anyway and with 12000 games i barely have a rush on new games anyway.
Except point and click adventures (which also aren't demanding), they are a must have and go on top of my list. :) Really looking forward to the brilliant coup which was supposed to be release in sep/nov but with no word it's delayed.
And offcourse december is an expensive month for most people, last year we got a 800 euro extra to compensate for electricity, but sadly they ended that and in march the yearly water/electricity bill what to pay extra.
Yeah time but also money might be a factor for many people, it was only due a short term job and a nice tax refund i could afford my last pc, and some would say oh this or that is enough, but i thought to just splurge 1 time (i8700k but especially the 2080TI back then at 1400? euro or so) thinking that would last me a long time, and it better be, because saving up is also barely even possible anymore these days, i mean i can't even set aside something for appliances in the future, let alone a pc part. I also still need and want many external drives (or just 1 petabyte), but it's just not in the cards now.

i have a code for 3 months of pc game pass for new members if you want it. you could try/play indy and a shitton of other good games.
Comment has been collapsed.
There are no obligations like you are stuck to some payment/subscription (and then forget)?
Thanks but i will pass and let someone that can enjoy it more. I had 2 years gathered free on ubi or uplay and i haven't even been able to use it one time, same as the games on epic, only got kingdom hearts on a good sale thinking it will never come to steam, until 6 months later, i got too much on steam. :x And while i am not even a jigsaw lover, i got myself stuck on pixel puzzle jigsaw (with it's 2900 puzzles).
Comment has been collapsed.
no obligations. actually, i just redeemed a one-month code about a week ago and was asked if i wanted to enable auto-renew, i said no. then i got a prompt saying if i do enable auto-renew then i get a free month. so i said yes, then immediately after that, i canceled auto-renew lol.
microsoft being microsoft, it is surprisingly very easy to cancel it and you still get the whole amount "paid" for.
if you are at least curious to see what games are available, the site is here. i totally get the "too much to play" problem though and why you wouldn't want more on your plate. i usually end up subbing for like a month or two out of the year once there's enough new stuff added that i wanna play.
i guess if anyone else is reading this and wants the code (you have to be a new game pass member or it won't work) then reply here and we'll go from there. i've had the code for a while since i can't use it myself and i'm pretty sure it hasn't expired, but you never know. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

RTX 3080 here, paired with 5700x, the game ran really really well on my PC
The official System Requirements are blown out of proportion a bit IMHO (as most of the time), by looking at them I thought that I would be able to run it maybe 1080p Ultra or 1440p High.
But in the reality I played it on 2880x1620 with everything Maxed Out, and the game ran butter smooth from start to finish.
My PC isnt that much faster than yours, so you will be pretty fine with it.

Thank you, appeciate it, base game is still somewhat reasonable, shame the premium is so much, maybe better to wait on a sale.
Actually the first time i seen such a high cpu (i seen a 2080 gpu minimum for final fantasy i think) as a minimum recommendation, but then again when point and click/indie is your most played genre you also won't notice them much. :p

My setup:
RX 5700XT
Ryzen 3700X
16 GB RAM
2TB HDD + 2TB NVME SSD + 500GB SATA SSD
Defo looking to upgrade soon, specs wise I can still run most games. But the motherboard is unstable (Auros X570 Gaming X), and AMD's drivers (especially those for the RX 5000 series) are trash.

I have an i5-13600KF and RTX 3080 with 32GB DDR4. I got the 3080 second hand for a great price, approx 450 euro in 2023. Very happy with performance so far, but I usually play older games anyway.
Your friend's PC lists a 7800 XTX, but that doesn't exist. There's a 7800 XT only, there's also a 7900 XTX but it has 24GB VRAM. The store must have labelled it wrong? I have to say, and I know you didn't ask for it, 2000 EUR is a steep price. To build such a PC yourself would be just over 1700 from a store in the EU.
About your deal for 1850, that seems steep for reasons above. Maybe prices in your country are higher. But if you do have to drop down, it depends what you're cheaping out on. To go from a 7800X3D to anything else, or from a 7800 XT to a 7700 XT is a big downgrade. You'd be better off by buying a smaller/cheaper SSD and a more basic case, without extra RGB fans.
Comment has been collapsed.
I have no idea, i see xtx cards on several websites and i am unwilling ro dig deeper into that but the store in question is kinda weird as even though they do a lot of business and are cheaper than most others they also lack a lot of item descriptions and even pictures...
The prices in Serbia (and Balkans in general i think) are unfortunately much bigger than elsewhere, i read somewhere online most of the electronics stores are like 30% above msrp, this store and one other tend to be 10-15% above msrp and if you want close to msrp you need to look at individual resellers/importers/smugglers on sites where people post ads.
Comment has been collapsed.
Do you know if exceed.rs is a genuine store? Apparently the prices on it are quite decent. This is what I was able to put together in 5 minutes, it's as good as your friend's PC, but the case isn't quite as flashy.
If you're new to this whole thing, I recommend you put all the parts you're looking to buy into PCPartPicker to make sure they're compatible. It will tell you if the case is too small or whatever.

Damn, talk about going out of your way to help someone, thank you!
First thing i saw is some forum talk from 2017, some guy with a small shop and website, seems legit. Stocks up parts that will sell fast, the rest is OoS, or at least that's how it used to be.

Well the box is about 20x41x44cm (for size in inches, use the rule of thumb).
I am not considering any upgrade as a bigger box wouldn't fit where it is well.
It also has a lot of wires going in and out, too messy to measure but surely they go to the moon and back if I knew a way to untangle them.
I'm not upgrading the wires either. All have enough length.
About the monitor, it has all the colours I need. Someone told me like something something millions.
I only need two: black and less black. So I'm covered there for decades.
Question: after reading my comment, would any of you accept my recommendations on PC hardware? I'm thinking of making a YouTube channel to see if I can monetize my knowledge.

My dad bought the monitor i'm using in 2010 or so something like that 20.000 rsd discounted to 10.000 so less than 100 euros probably even back then. It works fine but it’s a 22 inch Philips with a 30hz refresh rate so not something you'd want paired up with a good pc.
And i'm not one for peer pressure but friends already having or buying second monitors has me feeling miffed :)
What sort of monitor are you looking to get if you don't mind me asking?

Your friend's pc is great and should be fine for a few years, even longer if only gaming at 1440p and don't really care about RTX. An 850 psu is also fine. No need to get a 1000W or higher unless you plan to overclocking. Personally I just undervolt both CPU and GPU instead, then set a 90-120 fps limit when gaming Everything runs cooler, smoother and lasts longer. You won't even notice a difference due to the cap.
I have the 7800x3d also and its amazing. There is no need to get the 9800x3d unless you find a great deal.
Only thing I would recommend is having 32 GB ram and avoid Windows 11 for as long as you can, esp if you like older games. You will appreciate the extra headroom.
I always get my GPU used and recommend it if you are confident enough and there are reliable places in your area.
Comment has been collapsed.
Underwolting isn’t something i've really seen talked about, i'll look into that and yes my friend has 32 gb ram and i'll get at least as much regardless of build.
Running windows 7 and not looking to move up... Maybe go linux or some dual boot with windows 7... I don’t even know. Iirc someone in the windows 7 thread linked a site with community made updates or something like that? And i saw today in the linux thread some work around for local accounts on windows 11 was removed...
What do you mean by reliable places though? Like stores selling refurbished cards? If that terms is used for parts as well.

I can't remember exactly what I spent. Around $800-$850? Still using the case from my last build. I like it, and I saved some money. Corsair Carbide Series 100R Silent Edition. I still play everything at 1080p, and even some games at 720p, non-competitively, so it works good for my needs. I don't see myself upgrading anytime soon. Maybe in another 5-6 years? I do realize that my GPU is a pathetic upgrade from the 3060, but I got it really cheap, so no worries. I do regret getting the 13400 for a couple reasons, but a 12600k would have required a PSU upgrade, which is something I really didn't want to do.
@ ZeePilot: I personally wouldn't spend that much on a PC, so I'm the wrong person to give advice. Having said that, I think you should do whatever makes you comfortable, as long as you don't drastically overspend. Just find something you think would meet your needs, then compare to other prices online.

I wouldn’t spend that much on a pc either but my 'gaming pc' from 2012 has 4gb ram and 1 gb vram which didn’t serve me well all that long so i guess im looking to futute proof it... Not 10+ years but long enough that i can play a AAA release in a few years if i'm interesed in at least 1080p and not having to set everything to low. Filipi above configured a pc for some 1770 euros which is in the middle of two of my irl gamer friends price-wise.

I had i5 8400, 16GB RAM, SSD and GTX 1060 till last year. Worked fine for about 5 years I had it, was still able to play verything I wanted, but my wife had terrible laptop. So she got that PC and I bought myself i5 13500, RTX 4070 with 32GB of RAM.
Upgraded my screen as well to 32" 1440p with 165hz.
Hope it will last another 5+ years.

Your previous PC (the i5 8400) is exactly the same as the one I have right now. :D I bought parts in 2018 and it works good for the daily stuff so far. I don't have time to play games recently, so I'm not looking for any upgrade but if I would like to play the new ones - it'll definately need a new parts, especially GPU.

Believe me I wouldn't buy a 4090 at full price which would be around 2,000 bucks for the Asus TUF right now. I got mine for 1,400 Euros which is still insane. Concerning upgrade an X3D CPU is better for gaming due to the larger cache. That opens two avenues for upgrade 1) stay on AM4 with a drop-in upgrade in form of Ryzen 5700X3D or 2) go for AM5 platform with a 7800X3D or 9800X3D the first made out of unobtanium atm and the second one is to expensive for my taste.
The first alternative isn't very meaningful in my situation as I play in 4K and the performance difference between 5700X which I have and the 5700X3D isn't significant enough at this resolution and the display is limited to 120Hz anyway.

The PC your friend got is a great gaming PC for the next upcoming years. If you can get your hands on those components for a decent price, go for it. The only thing I would change is the amount of RAM: If possible (aka you still got the money), go for 32 GB.
Comment has been collapsed.
If you are looking for a PC primarily for casual gaming, then a 5700X3D, with DDR4 RAM, and with one of the last current gen GPUs, would be solid and could come a bit cheaper. If you want more performance (and also account for a screen accordingly - as in that there is not much a point in high-end GPU when you are using a screen for office, with some 60Hz or so), then the posted rig would be quite high-end these days - albeit, I'd go straight for a 800-Series-Mainboard in that case.
Really depends on what you yourself, want to see performance-wise. Like, when you plan to play a game like Cyberpunk 2077, perhaps even at 4K (and if you are ready for a bit increase in household electricity consumption), then it might be even worth to wait until next-gen GPUs (in a month or in a few). Or if you are more like: "Battlerite for life, bro, and I am all good on 1080p.", then the game page lists as minimum spec a GPU from 2010 - so even a GPU from previous gen would be plenty good, or even a modern laptop (with the option of connecting it to a larger screen).
Myself, I am going for a bit versatility, with a multi-screen setup. Currently it is a 9800X3D on an X670E, with 32 GB RAM, and a RX 6700 XT. In case of Cyberpunk 2077, on a 2560x1440 screen, with ultra settings, without ray-tracing and with FSR3, the rig gives an average FPS of 135, and Min FPS of 117. That's plenty good, and I am in no rush to upgrade the GPU (which is why I easily skipped the current-gen GPUs). But having the rig ready, with a PC case that has enough room/length for them larger GPUs, it is after the CPU the next thing to upgrade, and if no technical failure in the rig, no other upgrade/expense for quite some time in the future (other than a Gen5 M.2 perhaps, and depending on how the GPU will contribute to heat build-up in the PC case, also perhaps some improved cooling for the case).

Just bought a new system, 9700X and 4080S.
I tend to play older games at 1440p, so it's ample.
Really should have waited for 9800X3D stock to improve and the 5XXX series to come out, but I was trying to take advantage of the MSI $225 Steam card before the Christmas sale and wanted to have time to set it up over the Christmas break.
Unfortunately MSI have been slow in granting redemption, so I don't have the card yet.

It do be like that sometime. I was in a rush to get my pc before the new school year back then, went for the larger store, more expensive parts but it was supposed to be done much faster yet it dragged on. It was the same if not worse time-wise in the end.

Hello sg community, my pc is old and beaten down enough that even before halls of torment came out of early access (so no update to ruin optimization) one day it just went "nope, you're not getting more than 10 fps" so it is well past time for an upgrade yet im still indecisive for a bunch of reasons.
Ill attach the pc my friend got in january for some 1990 euros in serbia (pretty clutch play considering he didn’t want to go above 2000). I am wondering what yall are workin with and if you'd be satisfied with more or less those specs for around 1850 euros with some slower part speeds and a deal i could get on a mobo or processor, i forget.
Excuse the grammar, mouse went ahead and died, typing on phone (:
