amd 3600 and a 3070. want to upgrade, but skipped the couple times the 5700x3d went "cheap", and it hasn't gone that low again since. still considering just going to am5 instead of sticking to am4, but, also thinking of holding out until next amd socket. gpu I would love to upgrade as well, but, it will be many, many years before there is an affordable upgrade with how insanely high prices are now :( Also need a big ssd.

Might buy more RAM. I should have gone for a 128 GB set. I use a lot of virtual containers and they eat up RAM. I have run out of memory at 64GB a few times!
Also gotta get a better keyboard. The keyboard I'm looking at getting: https://www.amazon.com/KINESIS-Advantage360-Split-Ergonomic-Keyboard/dp/B0CGJRK71M/
The reason I have a computer like this is for work.

I mean, sure, I've got a perfectly decent PC (RTX 4070 + Ryzen 5600X + 32 GB RAM + all the SSD space I actually need for OS and gaming), I think I'm set for some more years, also I'm literally broke - but there's always that itch to upgrade, upgrade, upgrade... Realistically speaking, the only thing I need is a new sound card, my ancient Asus Xonar Essence used to be amazing, but it's a bit senile these days and tends to glitch from time to time. But that's likely not happening in the nearest future as well.

I bought my laptop 3 years ago during the GPU shortage, but damn has it been a kicker for me. It wouldn't impress anyone with it's GTX 1650 and Ryzen 5 5600H, but it does impress me. I was able to bring a bit more life into it by upgrading to 16GB of RAM and a second SSD that is 1TB.
Modern games have been less than stellar so this configuration doesn't bother me, but it can still handle some of them, like Horizon Forbidden West. I played it in 1600x900, medium overall preset and FSR set to balanced, while also streaming to Twitch!!! Despite the 1650 being listed as minimum for the game, it was able to handle all of that, showing that developers are just lazy.
Upgrading is currently not on my bucket list. I used the laptop I had before this one for 6-7 years, this one will be no excuse (if you're wondering it's still in service as a file server :D).

Yes, I did upgrade them myself.
In my opinion it's not harder, the laptop even came with a bracket, screws and cable to install the SSD. I believe it still has a free M2 slot somewhere inside if I want to go bonkers. Actually, scratch that, I'll be forced to give it more storage at some point.
RAM depends on your laptop, luckily this one doesn't have it soldered and it even had a thermal pad where the 2nd stick is meant to go.

PC died :(
So now i'm running a Razer laptop from 2014
At least it matches my 2 other razer products, and the RGB glows in unison and games i run often have their own RGB themes that give me subtle backlighting in my periphery.
Also being forced to use decade old equipment has me replaying older games, and reminded how newer, and more resource hungry, rarely make for a better game.
WOOT! for indie dev's and those who do it for The Love of the Game \o/

I'd say it's more about the games, but i REALLY do enjoy when there's an actual functional reason for the design.
In this case, not just RGB, for the sake of more blinky lights.
I dont know of razer makes one, but i also REALLY want to find myself one of those RGB projectors for behind my monitor, so there'll be that much more feel of immersion from background lighting.

I have running Linux my main PC:
Motherboard: MSI X570 Gaming Edge
CPU: Ryzen 5950X with Phantom Spirit 120 EVO cooler
GPU: Radeon RX 7900 GRE
RAM: 64GB Kingston DDR4
SSD: 1TB NVMe Samsung 860 EVO
SSD: 1TB SATA Sandisk Ultra
HDD: 4x 14TB (RAIDZ2) connected to LSI SAS controller
PSU: Corsair 850W gold
and running Windows connected to TV, my Steam Big Picture machine:
Motherboard: Gigabyte mini ATX can't remember the model
CPU: Ryzen 3700X
GPU: GeForce RTX 3060 12GB Dual Fan
RAM: 64GB Corsair DDR4
SSD: NVMe 1TB MSI Spatium
SSD: SATA WD Blue 1TB I got for $2 at an Amazon bins store
PSU: 550W EVGA
Both run every game I've ever tried to play with no problems at all. Just running everything at 1920x1080 for the most part. My TV is 4K HDR but I can't tell the difference between 4K and 1080p from couch distance, nor HDR, so I don't bother to waste processing cycles on those. I'd rather have higher framerate.

Hello sg community, my pc is old and beaten down enough that even before halls of torment came out of early access (so no update to ruin optimization) one day it just went "nope, you're not getting more than 10 fps" so it is well past time for an upgrade yet im still indecisive for a bunch of reasons.
Ill attach the pc my friend got in january for some 1990 euros in serbia (pretty clutch play considering he didn’t want to go above 2000). I am wondering what yall are workin with and if you'd be satisfied with more or less those specs for around 1850 euros with some slower part speeds and a deal i could get on a mobo or processor, i forget.
Excuse the grammar, mouse went ahead and died, typing on phone (:

Took me a bit longer to add, small bot protection, should be enough, right?
