What's the most you've paid for a single game (for a giveaway on this site)?

$10 to $14.99
$15 to $19.99
$20 to $29.99
$30 to $39.99
More than $40
I never bought a game specifically for a giveaway. I only give leftover keys.
I haven't created a giveaway yet. Level 0 for the win!
I just delegate it to Dan Quayle, and he never told me how much he's spending

Leftover keys here. I get the bundle and take the games I want, and share the rest.
I'm not in a financial situation where I can buy games to just give away, or if I did they would be the dirt cheap 99cent ones. I can't even afford the games I want for myself heh.

Single game 4.99, bundle 8.47....I think.

Most paid ever for a game.... 70 dollars. That's calculated from a no longer existing currency to dollars, it's probably more.

Pre-Ordered South Park: The Stick of Truth (Ended March 4 2014) - $ 45?48? from GMG for special "thank you GA"
Now the price is $30. No regret though.

Around $24. Didn't get a thank you after the GA ended and I delivered and so far, it was farmed for cards. So, yeah...

Wow how many cards did you sell for this? :o
And which game was it?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

No the game that cost me $24 was farmed for cards by the winner and left unplayed. That was, what I meant.

Ouch...

That's why I only do the more 'exclusive' (if you want to call it that) stuff in more select ways (only certain groups and whitelist for example) because that's really sour...

Exclusivity doesn't always help...

I think it's ok for the winner not to play the game immediately. Everyone prioritizes their backlog differently. With that said, winning an expensive game only to farm cards is disrespectful to the GA creator, so if the winner can't play it soon enough, the least they can do is blacklist it in IdleMaster. Apparently 70% of the users here disagree with me on this.

Yeah, it's fine when they don't play it immediately.
I don't play everything immediately either.
BUT in this case, a loooot of time passed. So much time actually, that thegame, in the mean time, has been available for much, much lesd than that. And that is what bothers me more - the more expensive the game gets, the more immediately you should play it in my opinion, because when you leave it rot for a year, somebody else would've (hopefully) inished it sooner and valued it more. I can't find the right words to put more emphasis on my words, but i hope you see my point.

I see your point and I agree. Food for thought...

I once gave away a game I wanted to play really bad, the winner farmed for cards only.

For some reason I have you on my whitelist and I dont know why...

Most I've paid so far is $10 for Undertale for my whitelist. Interesting to see how much people want that game.

$18 and that was for Mad Max. At first, I wanted to get The Magic Circle off my wishlist but decided to go with the bigger name. I supposed less people would have been interested by the Circle game.

But that's certainly not going to happen on a regular basis, I'm afraid.

I love it when people give away games that rarely appear on this site and tbh I'd appreciate Magic Circle even more than Mad Max :) Both games are on my wishlist but a chance to win Magic Circle is so rare I'd be in seventh heaven to get the chance to participate in it :)

I agree to everything you said. :D

It's a pity people feel obligated to go for the big shiny AAA titles, rather than the super cool creative niche titles, when picking games for giveaway.

I mean, it's generous and great either way- it's just the fact that there's this impression that the niche title is less of a contribution or less worthy, that saddens me.

Like you said, both games are great, but Magic Circle looks more interesting and is far less commonly offered.

There's also an added bonus of putting up niche titles-
[In theory] you get a better ratio of people entering who really want the game, rather than entering because it's big and shiny.

I would guess most simply are not aware of those hidden gems either ;-)

Ah.. my phrasing could have been clearer.

No, specifically talking about giveaway creators, like Naza above, who have two games they're considering giving away, and choose the 'shinier' one, rather than the more unique one, because they feel an obligation to do so.

Y'can't really feel obligation to pick one or the other, if you don't know of 'the other', so definitely not talking about anyone not familiar with niche games to begin with :)

makes sense ^^ I bet if those smaller games were known better, they'd get GA'ed a lot more too. But that's just the fate of 'hidden gems' ;-) and what massively overblown marketing budgets of big companies and their titles do :-/

Wasn't criticizing you! =O You're super generous, thanks for whatever you decide to put up!
Just thought it a pity you felt an obligation of any sort one way or the other, rather than just being able to go with what you thought was a more interesting giveaway to offer. :)

Barbie for everyone! =O

Oh but I didn't take your comment badly, don't worry. :D I know I shouldn't feel guilty for not making AAA game GA's but somehow, I do. And that Mad Max giveaway made me feel a bit better inside. ;)

Well, that's good, then! :)
And I definitely get the appeal of a grand gesture- isn't that the key to a good romantic adventure, after all?. :)

I've spent over 40 bucks at one time for giveaways, but it was always for more than one game. As far as for one game, though: I spent between 20-30 bucks each for Skyrim, Warhammer: Vermintide, and Pillars of Eternity to give away. I'm always on the lookout for great, unbundled games that are on sale to giveaway, even if my wallet won't always allow it XD

Wolfenstein: The New Order which was $15-ish, can't remember exactly, but it's a great game, spreading the love

€12 is the most I've spent for an individual game specifically to give away. And I gave it away twice, so €24 on that one game.

$10 AUD ($7.31 ish USD) each for Black Ops II, NBA 2K15, Beyond Earth and The Evil Within; mostly because that is my strict fiscal limit for any form of media (no budget). Might be more this year with some recent developments.

There was a price glitch of Mafia III on Humble store (pre-order for $29.99), so I grabbed one copy and will make a GA of it when I get my key. ^^
