So, it took me quite a while, almost 6 months to realize that GFWL is closing down. So, now I wonder what do I do now of my GFWL GTA EFLC Key? I mean I can't activate it on Steam, and so, I'm stumped. If I contact the Customer Care, will I receive another key? Thanks!

Activation is by Securom, so you can still activate and play. Expect multiplayer.

Some games using GFWL activation or with no offline support will have problems (eg. Bulletstorm) unless patched.

not that I would be aware of
Its pretty much up to the devs to fix it, but most of them are mostly ignoring this issue (such as Rockstar wit GTA IV, still no word about what will be the fate of the game..

There is an unofficial patch that allows GTA IV to play without GFWL.

Valve is not responsible for this, developers are. Some of them stated that their games will be updated, some haven't said anything yet.

I agree, but it's also true that Valve is selling unplayable games. Or are they playable in any way? Should I try and activate my games ASAP?

I would love to add them to my Steam Library, that would save me from buying them again :(

i just wonder why we bought the game then if at the end of the day,we need to use piracy methods to get it work

in some cases, yes. there will always be games that you will have to pirate to get best, if not only possible, experience because of something like this, although, I dont expect too much games to fall into this category

Well, I find it can be a very good solution. Microsoft should just make an update emulating or ignoring all GfWL features like some cracks do. It's really sad that their attitude is simply "Fuck them" tho. Not what I expected after their words about supporting of pc gaming.

Same here. I've been buying GFWL games in the last couple of months, and I have still to activate them.
As Steam offered no warning on the issue I supposed they will have the solution at hand. I don't want to face the terrible truth.
Please, someone tell us there is a way to get our games working. :3

Thats a bit of too wishful thinking I guess..Have like 4-5 games with gwfl, not quite sure they will work after GWFL is closed :/

I've been using xliveless since December on all my games for single player. Don't do much mp so not worried about that.

Tried/using 15b___.7z works with Bulletstorm, Dirt 3, Section 8, Fuel, GTA IV and Opperation flashpoint all working without any issues.

When they shut down GFWL, the developers gave Arkham Asylum GOTY everyone, who had the retail version of Batman AA (like myself), so it is possible that they can do something about this.
But maybe not every developer team is as cool as Rocksteady to do this.

and so far they were nearly the only one to do such action concerning an existing game on GWFL apart th 2K devs with the patching of Bioshock games

At this time MS and R not yet made the transition from GFWL to a steamworks platform so maybe R GFWL key will be transfered to R* social club?

Same here, can't activate the GFWL code for GTA IV EFLC, not that anyone is playing multiplayer anymore.

The code for GTA IV worked when I activated it a few months ago. Weird.

if you bought a steam code, it should work
Still need to know what will be the fate of multiplayer, since the game can be played in offline mode

Not a big deal since EFLC multiplayer has always been empty from what I've heard.
Worst case scenario just use xliveless ;)

yeah, I just dont like the idea of having to use a crack to a game I bought legally
Its just furiating how legal customers gets screwed over while pirates dont have to deal with this GFWL/Securom bullshit

btw anyone knows whats the deal with securom at GTAIV? I mean if Games for Windows Live is closing, will it affect Securom activation too or what? Im really really confused (or is it another " we will wait and see whats happening"?

You know, I never thought I would say this but im slowly starting to get really angry with Rockstar and how they dont give a fuck about some of their older games on steam (apart GTA IV things like the sound looping in Max Payne 1, never got centrally patched, or Manhunt 1 crashing, also never got ever officially patched!!!)
This is absolutly beyond ridiculous

Rockstar isn't too concerned with PC, so unless they step up and do something for once you can expect their games on GfWL to not work {officially}. Should it go down.

Yeah, it sucks. They need to get Gears of War on Steam, that would boost the user-base, imo, and possibly save the game from going into even deeper obscurity
