Had to Google what a beamer is (to North Americans, that means a projector :P).
I don't know much about those, but have you considered a monitor mount as an alternative? You can anchor it to the wall and have the monitor point downwards - not sure if that's a viable options.

I tried to look for some adapters, but did not find any.
But why not buy normal projector, and make custom-made wooden "box" to hold it upright? I don't know any projector that would cast image upwards, not forward.
Or just use ceiling mount to put projector on a wall, and point it upwards.

I found 2 that were made for it but not very good quality. In every manual it says don't put it on it's side. But I ordered one today anyway and decided to give it a try as I'm getting quite bored and desperate with nothing to do or watch. Fingers crossed:)

not putting it on the side is due to the heat dissipation... those things get quite hot (at least the ones I know), therefore you should consider a low noise fan to get the air moving. otherwise the lifespan of the bulbs will be reduced massively.

the cleverissimo MSKOTOR's tip!
reading the title thought you were expanding your VR set or smth... hope you'll get well very very soon, Anne.
with the "right" ceiling mount, holding it upright, you should only leave some space for the fan airflow on the back (considering you also have to put some other cables...) and resolve this? ...right? :D
do let us know!

Go with a cheap one. I've had my latest one "Epson Home Cinema 2000 1080p, HDMI, 3LCD, Real 3D, 1800 Color and White Brightness, Home Theater Projector" I paid $549.99 new 5 years ago, I'm on my second bulb (I picked up last year, a 75 dollar replacement).
I sit pretty far away 8 -10 feet and can read the subtitles in movies just fine. I game on it (& have lots), I think comic books on a "beamer" is the way to go (I'm not reading the super hero stuff much, mostly French scanlations).
A couple processed cheese cardboard boxes or whatever and you could get it to stay in position spitting at your ceiling. Just don't block the intakes or its vent hole and you'll be fine.

What a coincidence I picked a Epson too. ( Epson EH-TW650). It will be delivered tomorrow. It's good to hear you are happy with it. I picked this one as it was the only one with the right distance for me. Laying on the couch my ceiling is at a fixed distance so that was a very important aspect. Let's hope it survives the upright position although the manual says don't tilt it. Can't wait to try it :)

Atm I can't sit at all with my back but I can lay down on my back for short periods of time. So I was thinking to get myself a beamer that can project on the ceiling to game and Netflix a bit.
Does anyone know a beamer that projects up and is good enough to read subtitles with Netflix and has a low latency so I can play some games?
All the beamers I see only project horizontally and that is not working for me.
