You activate them in borderlands 2, they let you open some chest or something.

It tends to be high quality stuff scaled to your level.

Not that I'll ever use it, makes the game too easy. If I want rare equipment, I'll try the slot machines.

Crap if you're level 50. That "crap" helped me out quite a bit when I was lower leveled.
