So, I go to use my Humble Bundle Gift link today and it says that it's already been used, I did not give it out to anyone and I did not use it myself. I did however give out another link to someone else (and I triple checked it was the right link before doing so), is it possible that they used the other link as well as the link in question? Or what could've happened?

Now I imagine I'm going to get suspended unless I buy the game and supply it within a week. :(
Either way I've contacted support here and Humble Bundle Support. Just looking for any additional ideas that I might not be aware of or anything I could learn in the future. Thanks!

You dont get suspended for not delivering a game, you might get a not received mark though.

Which is worse than suspension imho, because when you get suspended, it's for a limited time (unless it's permanent which happens in severe cases of breaking the rules of the website) and as soon as your suspension is over, your slate is clean again, but unreceived mark is forever, unless you really can deliver at some point, but by the time ga creator decides to deliver the gift (after being marked as not received), the winner might simply decide to refuse the gift and your gift will stay marked as not received forever, which might lead to others hating you and putting you on blacklist.

the creator can reroll if the winner refuses the gift. there's always time to fix a not-received giveaway.

You already contacted Humble Bundle support, that's good. They can deactive the key on whoever actived it. And what ^ says.

3rd party sites don't have a power to remove things from your Steam library. They'd have to ask Valve to do so and I kinda doubt Valve would care.

They seem to be able to deactive their retail keys however. Or so I read, from a few different threads that have encountered the same problem.

What i believe might have happened is that several games are attached to 1 link with Empire, instead of 1 link or steam key per game.
Some who gave away those Empire and Total War games here, basically included the whole first tier on 1 giveaway, and the games that came with it. So what you want to give away and what you already gave away might have been the same link, if that makes sense.

Example: http://www.steamgifts.com/giveaway/B1wkt/empire-total-war-collection

Yeah these are 2 separate links, at least it looks like it in HB. There are 2 separate places 1 for the game I gave away and 1 for the game I wanted to GA here.

But it does make sense, next time should I just not gift them and get the keys and give the keys away?

EDIT: Yeah that one is mine! I knew it was bundled together with that game lol, that's the games in question!

Well normally just giving out the links should be okay, but i can't say what happened if you aren't hacked if you say that the links on both were different, i see on steamtrades that some count it as 1 game, also suggesting it is one link.
But i don't have that bundle bought so it would just be guessing on my side, either someone who has can clearify it more, or wait on Humble Bundle support, but it might take you awhile, even longer then a week.

Yeah, says current wait time is 5 days. And that's 5 business days, so it may be a while :( Thanks for the help!

I've had a bunch of Humble links who were activated at some point before I gave them away. (Which is why I stopped generating them in advance and never use that feature anymore.)

Humble support was able to reset the links for me so you should be okay.

How did that even happen? There must be a good reason for them to give you a new set of keys. Did it get hacked somehow or was it a glitch?

I have no idea how it happened. I've heard many similar reports from others. The theories range from brute-forced links to accounts hacking. But it looks like they're aware of it since they have no problem re-issuing keys then it happens.

Why would anyone use those links anyway? I really don't trust additional layers.
