This, If it was a direct to dvd release it would fit in with the rest of the Lego products, but apparently this is a huge project with some of the most respected (voice) actors in the industry, looks like it's gonna be a huge flop i.m.o. Playing with lego (digital or not) is way more interesting than having to stare at it for 2 hours

That seems right, the thing is, It's not just their voices that are connected to this movie, with such big names one would assume that the studio will use them to sell the movie, like for instance a movie poster like this:
Lego TPR starring So i'm not surprised they can afford them, i'm just surprised they would actually lend their names to such an risky project.

Being a animated picture, a fail at the box-office will not impact too much in a negative way the career of the actors that gave voice to the characters. For them is a fun way to earn some more money ;)
Absolutely, the studio behind the project will use the fame of these actors to promote the movie and will bring them at the launch and all the parties, but hey, that's part of the deal at any movie.

I've always been a fan of Legos, so I'm sure the movie will be great. They are a big company, so they could afford them. Most kids wouldn't even know who they are, but adults would. There is a high adult/teen Lego fan base. Good actors or should I say voices might give them a reason to go see the movie.

I knew actor wages have been reformed this last decade but this is just ridiculous, at least 1 actor of every good comedy show that's on right now (even that kid from shameless) + tons of (former) A-list actors, if that movie where made 15 years ago they would have spent at least 250 mil on actor wages, but now this whole movie got made with a budget of 6 mil.

It was all done on favors asked from personal relationships from the director. The movie is a series of short sketches, essentially... so it's not like these actors are in the whole movie, just in their little sequence.
They shot the movie over several YEARS, flying out to when and where the actors were available to basically shoot it in their free time.

LEGO The Piece of Resistance!
I've never bothered playing the lego games assuming it was just another way to make easy money for the devs & LEGO so i expected the same from this movie, untill i had a look at the cast:
