I see some pretty great artists there, like Matt Borghi, Tim Hecker, Vidma Obmana, and even Dead Can Dance (also Lisa gerrard as solo); and it reminds me to check out the more ambient stuff of Aphex Twin. Thanks for the recommendation, I might tune in during some Terraria plays :)

Bumping for interest; I need more recommendations like the above; anyone got some?

Yes. I love Steve Roach, Brian Eno,, Harold Budd and loads of post-rock, which I consider ambient-y.
I'd suggest listening to Jerry Martin's work on SimCity 4's OST, specifically God Mode tracks. Perhaps some post-rock too.
I have to say though, I don't enjoy dark ambient too much.

Oh I'm into post-rock too, I listen to Jesu, Godspeed you! Black Emperor, Mogwai and Explosions In The Sky a lot. Actually, a lot of Aidan's stuff can be considered as post-rock too, though it's much more droney. You might or might not like his band a bit better (one of the many bands actually), called Nadja, tough that is some droney doom metal and shoegazer mixture, and it may sound weird.
Thanks for the recommendations, heard about Eno and Roach, Budd is new to me though. Will check them out!

Here a few more recommendations to get you started. Some of the music I link to is more electronic in nature, while other songs have more in common with classical music and others venture into post-rock territory, but I'd argue that all of it can be more or less summed up as "ambient".
Harold Budd - The Pavilion of Dreams
Stars Of The Lid - Articulate Silences Part 2
The Dead Texan - When I see scissors, I cannot help but think of you
William Basinski - Melancholia - (Untitled) #2
Max Richter - On the Nature of Daylight
Boards of Canada - Dayvan Cowboy
To Kill a Petty Bourgeoisie - The man with the shovel is the man I'm going to marry
Oh, and if you're into dark ambient, Lustmord is the thing.

Thanks for the recommendations! I love Lustmord, he did some amazing remix for a Pyramids album. Will check those out but I have to rush now...
And classical ambient is way awesome actually, I'm kind of a fan of Arcana, and they play medieval dark ambient. It's awesome stuff.

Just some ambient or close to ambient artists I listen to:
Hammock - The Air Between Us (Ambient post-rock)
Carbon Based Lifeforms - Init (ambient/downtempo)
Lights Out Asia - Chapters of A Red Sky (Downtempo/post-rock)
Mamiffer - We Speak in the Dark (experimental/drone/dark ambient)
Nest - Kontio (ambient folk)
I also really enjoy the collaboration album of John Haughm & Mathias Grassow titled Mosaic.

Not bad, perhaps a bit too sedate and abstract for my liking, but certainly fairly easy to listen to. Personally I would recommend anything by God is an Astronaut for some nice instrumental post rock. Particularly this song. It isn't really ambient, but I like the way it builds. Some of their other stuff has a bit more of an ambient quality though, like Snowfall.

Okay, I'm an avid ambient music listener, and this guy called Aidan Baker really rubs me the rightest ways possible. Here's one of my favourite songs from him, and it is absolutely wonderful. Anyone else likes this kind of stuff? And more importantly, do you have any recommendations?
For the maximum enjoyment, you can either set the volume to a soft and whispering level, or to maximum; both have their own unique experiences. If you're impatient and the 20 minutes length is way too much for you, it kind of does it justice to listen to the first 5-10 minutes. And don't forget to not only listen, but LOOK as well.
EDIT - told you to look, there was a secret giveaway in the comments (IG9 BTA). At least 6 people found it, and there were only 2 entries. Congratulations to the winrar, gift sent. Keep up the recommendations if you have some though, I need some new artists to listen to.
