Update: 54 giveaways, of which 7 were contributed (thanks again!). Very few rerolls. It was a good experience overall.

My previous Level 0 initiative wasn't exactly a huge success, but I haven't given up. Let's try something else.

Most of the giveaways linked below are public (you can also find them in the giveaways list) and they're all for cheap bundled games with ok reviews (most around 70% recommended). Not bad, but there are much better giveaways that Level 0 users who are reading this (and those who aren't) are missing out on. If you want want to be able to enter some of those giveaways, here are a few tips:

  • Level up. You can actually do it without spending money. More here.
  • Participate in the forum. A couple of great reasons to do it:
    • Many of the discussions are not only interesting, but also include additional giveaways. Some in the form of posts with random links to giveaways that are not listed in the Giveaways page (these are called "invite-only giveaways", but anyone who sees the link can enter). Some other giveaways in the form of "trains" (multiple linked giveaways), and finally there are some giveaways which are only accessible if you complete a puzzle. Many of the forum giveaways are for games with great reviews, and the number of entries is typically much lower than public giveaways (those listed on the Giveaways page), providing far better odds. See this thread for more.
    • If you're opinionated and well versed, some people may add you to their whitelists because of what you write, regardless of the number of giveaways you created (if at all). Whitelist-based giveaways are frequently for unbundled games and have a relatively low number of entries. I have many great people in my whitelist, but those who ended there by writing exceptionally interesting, insightful or helpful posts on the forum can feel especially proud. I know that's how I felt in the few cases people added me for this reason and not for my sent/won ratio.
  • Join giveaway groups. See this sub forum for group that recruits new users. In general you may want to contribute some giveaways before applying, as most groups have some requirements for entry.
  • Read giveaway descriptions before entering. It's not only the polite thing to do, but as an added bonus you may discover some additional giveaways linked in the text. Reading giveaway descriptions is something that you seem to be capable of, if you've reached this far.

Here are the giveaways:

Bumping for low level appreciation!

Lately, I haven't had to reroll much for my low level giveaways. I think I have maybe a 1/10 reroll rate, which is pretty good when thinking about the horror stories other users have. Let's hope it's a good sign, and not just my blind luck.

Thanks for the contributions!

BTW, isn't "Minimum Real CV (Sent): 450" the equivalent of (almost) Level 6? Even I barely match this requirement, so I doubt the typical visitor of this thread is anywhere close. I hope you're also posting this link elsewhere ;-)

Moved it down to 350$ (around Lv5) to make it a bit easier. If I only get one entry I'll be happy, I'm not worried about the CV ^.^

This is a first for me, giveaways for ONLY lvl 0s? I really appreciate the thought, and am sure many others do as well, even if they don't say it here. Hope you have better luck with your winners in the future!

I set up 5 level 0 public GA's tonight... all bundle games, yeah. I had to ask for 4 rerolls because of non-activated wins and/or games won multiple times. You know, I don't think I'll be creating Lvl 0 GA's anytime soon again. :o/

I've had much better experience recently (for the giveaways listed in the OP). Of the 18 Level 0 giveaways that already finished (as part of this initiative), I had to reroll only 2. I tried multiple methods and here are my conclusions:

  • 3 SGTools filtered giveaways - no rerolls. This method seems to be completely safe. In theory people can still cheat, but it hasn't happened yet and I doubt it will (at least with non-AAA games).
  • 6 Invite-only giveaways (not filterd with SGTools) - no rerolls. This is inline with my experience with higher levels. I've had really bad experience with public Level 4 giveaways, but excellent with invite-only. For some reason those who read the forum tend to abide by the rules a lot more than those who only check the Giveaways page.
  • 9 public giveaways - 2 rerolls (of which one was approved). I'm fully prepared to have a few rerolls with the public giveaways and am ok to sacrifice a bit to get the message through to more people. I chose cheap games with mixed reviews for these giveaways. If I have to reroll and the ticket is rejected ("user has already served suspension"), then at least I don't feel too bad about it.

I admit I have yet to use SG Tools, that's something I'll certainly try for my next giveaways.

One of my reroll requests sadly got denied and I had to ask for a second one for another GA... I hope that it won't be rejected too. Having to send keys to users who have broken the rules recently is not pleasant at all. :( Needless to say, they end up blacklisted.

There are many, but they don't visit the forums. There are what, a million users? I doubt even one percent ever opens the forums. If you could implement those restrictions on actually public ones, they'd surely get a lot more hits.

One thing for sure - they're not likely to come by better winning odds that these.

There are still a few days to go, but if these GAs don't get enough entries I'll remove the Level-0-only restriction and post again in this thread.

I'm glad to say that 19 out of 19 SGTools-filtered giveaways completed without any issue. It's almost boring ;-)

Just to clarify, none of these required reroll. I don't want to say anything about invalid entries, because I don't trust my memory. I know for sure that I changed requirements in some SGTools giveaways after there were already some entries, but don't keep track in which giveaways I did that. I just let invalid entries enjoy the benefit of doubt.

If you use "invalid giveaway entries" you'll get the list of people that joined the giveaway that is not marked as "got the url from sgtools", no matter how many times you changed the requirements.

That mean that people got the url from outside the tools, so leaked entries or people who you gave the url personally

Yes, giving the link personally is another thing I know I've done a few times, but haven't kept track of it. I guess the best practice would be to always share the SGTools link, even if the forum is completely trusted (e.g. my whitelist). I guess I should be more disciplined with how I use SGTools giveaways. It's such a powerful tool, it takes a while to learn how to use it properly, which is why I tend to err on the side of giving people the benefit of doubt.
