Well, it's been a glorious day, I've reached the magical number of 4 000 on my filtered game list.

I tend to filter everything, that's

  • too early access,
  • looks more like a weekend project,
  • seems to be someone's very first game ever,
  • has more asset store items than custom made items,
  • has overwhelming negative reviews despite being in the market for years,
  • looks more like a cash grab,
  • not even optimized to be played on a computer

...also a bunch of other stuff...

So... question time:
How do you figure out which games to filter?
What are your criteria?
Did you ever "unfilter" a game?

(Check the number of your filtered games here.)

Finally, time for a few GAs:
LVL 0
LVL 1
LVL 2
LVL 3
LVL 4

How many games did you filter so far?

I hardly filter any more since the Wishlist view was introduced. I can't even imagine going back to the standard view since there's so much stuff I'm not even interested in scrolling that it makes it not worth the time, even if I'm missing games that should be wishlisted but aren't yet.

These days I only filter games I already own when present in massive quantities and SG hasn't caught up yet. Lazy, I know, but it's less clicks than forcing a sync.

I have almost 2,300 games and DLCs filtered. I'm not a fan of hidden object games, visual novels or most simulators.

I'm on 3997 right now so I'm not far behind. XD I just look at their store page and see if the game is interesting, if not then it gets hidden. Once I've hidden it, it's there forever XD

I thought I would be fairly high, with 3500 hidden, but apparently not. Still growing, though, but I do end up skimming over a lot, as one page shows enough time now.

37.
It's just some DLC I'm not interested in or I already own and still in the main list, or pack/bundle of games I already have, or dead games removed from the Steam store still showing up even if I own them...
I usually only look on the wishlist page anyway so... ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I go through the steam queue, and any game I mark as not interested I will also filter here on SG when I see a giveaway created for it. 11,274 games filtered and counting. :)

7,546 at the moment, and that's not counting the ones I'm not sure about and never enter.

EDIT: oh, on SG, 8029 and more everyday

mostly cheap trash, pornography (disturbing amount showing up every day) , sports games

I do try to look at most games store page at least a little before blocking.. if it seems maybe either way I leave it alone for later..

I only enter games that I'm actually interested in playing, so I've filtered a lot of games and DLC.

I have no interest in MOBAs,Visual Novels, Hidden Object games, Simulators, RPGMaker, VR, and a whole lot more.

Same by me, although I didn't filter VR games. I believe there might a boom in the next few years, and VR might become something more common...we'll see...

Yes, that's a good point. I think for me, if VR ever really takes off, and if I ever end up buying a headset, then I will un-hide those games that look interesting. But for the foreseeable future I don't really want them enough to win.

The only downside of filtering so many games is that usually I only have one page of giveaways to look at! :-)

Maybe there should be a way to filter certain games (like VR), so we can easily unfilter them later.

I currently have the tags I use and games that I don't tag I hide. local coop for hanging out with friends and girlfriend, roguelikes for small breaks when I have a chance and a small interesting category for games that don't fit the first two but I still want to play. I hide pretty much anything I don't see myself playing especially the point and clicks and puzzle games. 3300 and counting I should catch up to you soon
