my sun sign is aquarius, the art for which depicts a woman with a vessel of water... so - waterbearer... and it also seemed fantasy-ish enough for use in RPG's... :D

I have no idea tbh, I felt like a Don, and Diablo sounds cool, and I randomly used 29 on my first msn account years ago so I stuck with that number

My friend came up (probably from memory but he didnt know) with IceStationZebra (which we found out it was actually a movie later on) and it evolved to icezebra which is a nice game because no one picks it

I got my 360 shortly after The Simpsons Movie came out and had a hard time thinking on a good gamertag, tried SpiderPig and it was unavailable and suggested SpiderPg. Stuck with it since, it does get frustrating/annoying though when you join a lobby and a bunch of people start singing the Spider Pig song though, I've often thought of chaning it but I can't think of anything good.

I actually had 2 before this one.
The first one was "SilenthDeath":)). I like sniping and other types of silent killing so when I start playing CS & UT99 online in Internet Caffe clubs, way before I had my first Internet connection, I decided to get a nickname that showed my "passions".
The second one was "dixtr3m3r" :)). This one came from the name of my favorite IT&C magazine - XtremPC (I eventually ended up working there in college). I only used this one for a single game but I forgot what game. Kinda figures how much I liked it.
The last one is "daydr3am3r". This one's simple: I've always been a daydreamer.

Well I have two I regularly use.

Monukai: In EverQuest my nec was called Valcrae, I was going to make an ench with another friend, I named mine Valukai (coming from Valukai and me just saying random words outloud until I heard something I liked (which happened to be Uruk-hai lol)) and my friend used the same convention combining their name (Monet) and named it Monukai. When my friends and I switched to WoW, I made my rogue Valukai and made my first alt a druid I named Monukai, for most of Vanilla I played my rogue and didn't level up my druid until the last few weeks before TBC. Rerolled to my druid a few weeks after TBC came out.

Zykour (my other commonly used alias): This was pretty much 100% original, I was just saying things aloud and adding syllables together and what not until I came up with a name I liked.

I came up with name Arkantos, and few years after that, game Age of Mythology was released, and who was the main character?
Try to guess.
Those b*stards stole that name from me.

Made it up. Back in the day I wanted to be a professional wrestler and was a big fan of the WWF (now WWE). My wrestling persona's name was Archangel and so you get my current name.

I started using this back when Nintendo had its official forum open. And since I wanted a gaming related name that wasn't just another "Link10924" or "SuperMarioFan14, I decided to create one based on a favorite game of mine. And since I wanted it to be a bit original I replaced the "Bubble" in "Bubble Bobble" with the name that I called the little green dino, which is Bubby. And it's managed to stick with me for about ten years.

I use it on pretty much every site that I'm a member of. :)

It is derived from my real name (First letter from first name, first three from my first surname, first from my second surname), and it actually means something.
The A is just there because Fnord was taken.

I was very young, named myself after my favorite manga character at the time. Now all of my usernames are "Husky-something"
Sometimes my ingame character names are Casimir or Rohimir, if not Husky. I randomly made those when I played a couple MMOs.
Female characters are Vivienne... because it's a great name ;)

Over the years, I've went through a few nicks. Started with Teron Gorefiend as a kid in my newsgroup/14.4k modem days, but that fell off quick. Switched to Wandering Mage when I hit the "using existing character names is dumb" phase and it stuck for a while, but then it became a hassle as half the sites I tried to register to already had hundreds of Wandering Mages. Eventually switched to Neo987, which was the USER (Neo) and PASS (987) I used for Gauntlet Legends machines around the country (if you see one in the US, try that combo and you may get my progress), but ended up the butt of every joke in my longtime circle of friends as we've always held that nicks that use numbers or symbols are childish unless forced by a service. You can still see the couple guides I wrote on GameFAQs. My .hack keyword guides for the first two games are still moderately popular to this day.

Eventually, it got to the point where I was done with Neo987. It was always supposed to be a temporary placeholder anyway. It was 2004, I had just built my first computer for myself (as opposed to building hundreds during high school, mostly for the school), and I felt it was the perfect time to re-identify myself (that, and Neo987 was hitting the same wall WM was prior). I felt the "mercenary system" would be fitting, pairing a color and object, as for years as a kid I had been a "hacker for hire". But for the life of me I was stumped. Then, out of the corner of my eye I saw my new bluetooth adapter blinking in a front USB port. Bluetooth. Blue Tooth. Blue Fang. AZURE FANG! And thus, I hit the nick that I'll likely carry until the end at this point.

tl;dr I'm a semi-outdated and repurposed electronics communication standard.
