... This really isn't the best place to ask about emmigration. Go talk to an immigrant from Canada. Or talk to an immigration officer.

One of the requirements of gaining Canadian citizenship is the ability to spell the country name correctly consistently. :(

Canada (at least the parts I visit) are sometimes split with what language is commonly used - between French and English. Don't let that deter you, they're very friendly in the great white north. Also poutine

Stop with the poutine's pictures. I'm getting hungry and lunchtime is still 2 hours away.

Might grab one on my lunch hour though. :)

That is only in Quebec, also the only place, i bet in the world, where entitlement is an entitlement and where you are a race because of your language

As a Canadian, I assure you, Poutine is not unique to Quebec.
Nor are touques, chesterfields and the letter Eh.

To be fair, I started with "at least the parts I visit" :P It was my experience that just about everyone there was bilingual which always impressed me, so it probably won't be much of an issue one way or the other (I mostly just wanted an excuse to post pictures of glorious poutine).

Pro tip: Don't go around calling people Candanians from Canda ;)

Not only because of our language, but also because of our very different cultural background and history.

And, for the records, we're not considered a different race but a nation. We're still part of the human race, don't worry.

Yes part of the human race, of course, but french is not a race. it is a language spoken by many races, and Quebec is not considered a nation anywhere outside of Quebec. Quebec is that spoiled child you see in a store throwing a tantrum to get someone else to buy them that new toy that all their friends bought with their own hard earned money

Technically, it's recognized as a nation throughout Canada since the House of Commons passed a motion in that regard. Then again, we can both agree that this motion didn't really mean anything.

Unlike the rest of Canada, we are descendants of the french and we have a different cultural history. I don't expect someone who's not from Québec to understand this but there is a huge difference between us and other Canadians. I don't get your reference to the tantrum kid as we're usually the ones getting the shaft in most decisions.

Anyway, I don't want to start a political debate here. You're entitled to your opinion, even though I disagree. Let's just leave it at that.

Ok, but i will add this, since i have moved to this province, I have heard on a few occasions Quebecoise refer to themselves as a race. I have even been in conversation with one that said Quebec financially supports the rest of Canada, and not the other way around. And where else in the world would a government actually try to scare away big businesses with draconian language laws? On the other hand, trés belle province especially the further east you go

Yes, there are pricks and idiots here too. We're not exempt from that. :P

Of course we're not supporting Canada financially, although I'm pretty sure we're giving away more than we're getting back. In that sense, they're not supporting us either. (We're helping support other provinces, just like others have supported us in the past when we needed it.)

As a french speaker, the prevalence of the english language outside of Quebec that's slowly creeping inside of it, I totally understand the language laws. Something has to be done to protect our language. (Again, harder to understand from the perspective of someone who's not threatened by this.)

Well, there are thousands of reasons why i should learn Quebec french, and only one really good reason that keeps me from doing so, which is, I will not be forced. Any how, being from opposite ends of the spectrum we could probably keep this going all day, and i am sure we both have better things to do. Thanks for debate, and i hope i didn't say anything to offend too much (just a bit :P) passe une belle journée

Would you be attempting to attain Canadian citizenship? As someone who has had many friends who have immagrated to here (I live in Canada) it costs considerable more than that - they used to (I'm not sure if they still do) make you wait about 4 years before you could (officially) hold a job so it was increadibly draining on finances. Also they prioritize the wealthy and highly educated.

On the flip side Canada is a wonderful country to live in. After travelling the world and living in various countries in my youth I can say that Canada is my favourite place to live as we enjoy freedom, access to almost anything, free healthcare, fresh water, oh and poutine! :P
