Do you check if you pass the rules of SGTools giveaways of games you're not interested in?

View Results
No, why would I if I'm not interested in the game?
Yes, and I also enter the giveaway. I don't mind winning games I'm not interested in.
Yes, and I'm done there. I don't click to get the link to the actual giveaway.
Yes, and I also get the link to read the comments or add one, but not enter.
Yes, and I also get the link just because I can, but I don't enter.
I don't even click links to SGTools giveaways, as I never pass.
Just ask Dan Quayle

If there are any unusual requirements or ratios that I'm wondering if I'd pass, then yup I totally check if I pass but do not get the link if I'm not interested in the game.

You can click the game picture in SGTools to open the Steam store page. You don't need to actually check if you pass :-)

Very often, yes. Simply to check if there are any more giveaways inside.. that's the only reason, really.

Same if I think it might be a train, but if it's clearly just one game and I either own it or aren't interested, I just don't bother. And obviously if there's a limit to the entries then I don't even try so has not to make a useless entry and mess the count...

Yup, I do the same if it's clearly just one.

Sometimes. If it's a train to find out what other games are in there or key drops. I also keep tabs open for games I want to enter later if I have enough points, but I don't always end up entering in time or spend the points on something better.

Other: I don't click links to SGTools giveaways, as I prefer to keep my Steam profile private from third parties unless I have good reason to believe my privacy is being protected. SGTools doesn't even have a privacy policy, let alone one I feel comfortable enough with to trust.

Do you avoid clicking other links on the web before checking if the target site has a privacy policy?

No, but there's quite a difference between giving any given website access to what data my browser transmits (which to some degree I can control, such as by blocking trackers, third-party cookies, etc.) and giving a website access to my private Steam profile and all the data which that contains. I keep my profile private for a reason, and I don't feel it's unreasonable to be selective in who I divulge that information to.

So for those who already have their Steam profile public, there's nothing to complain about SGTools. The exact same data is already fully accessible to anyone.

It's only those with private profiles who can feel left out. On the other hand, the feeling of getting a winner with a private profile and the associate work to check their wins is not a great feeling either, I can tell you that.

I think you don't understand how steam openid works. You should read more about it :)

Login to a website with steam open id doesn't give the website any info that is not publicly available, and doesn't bypass private profiles.

No, I'm well aware of that—but would I not need to make my profile public in order, just like with SG syncing, in order to use SGTools? That's my understanding, so please correct me if I'm wrong. :)

In order to pass checks that need that information (activated check or vac ban) yes, otherwise no.

So you're one of those people that we have to give additional work to support for just to check if you have non-activations...

I feel that's a trick question, with a great gib like the first one. :)
And I can't enter the second :D
Though I did think it was Waking Mars at first, so I did try. :X
I guess that might sorta count for your question?

Unless it's a giveaway with a maximum number of entries, i check if i would pass them. Nothing wrong with seeing if i could enter or not as long as i don't take a chance from someone who really wants it.

majority vote,
who knows what can be behind, a hidden GA? a train? Only when entries are limited, like max 20, I refrain from using up a slot.

Yes, just to know if I can :P

I will, if it's a train-- cause you never know if the game(s) coming up next are something that interests you or not.

Yes. Beside I read descriptions and comments, sgtools also remembers if I uncover the link. So by this way, I don't enter them again, unless I really think there should be new comments I should read :3.

I haven't entered any sgtools giveaways. Too many checks is borderline ruining my experience with this site and I think I reached my steam-login sites for now. I guess I'll just take part in less giveaways. Although I find more and more people use it so maybe in a short time there will be no "plain" giveaways..

Thanks for Thank

(When faced with your custom entry rules, after giving up on parsing them, I often do click just to see if I qualify.)

I usually do just to see if it's a train. Sometimes I leave a comment. I wouldn't if it was a limited entry GA, though.
