Ok, I started with the Big Boss timeline, so I'm rather biased but honestly, Solid Snake for me is hardly anything more than a dick who enjoys all the killing. He treats Otacon like garbage for the most part of MGS1, he treats Raiden like a dumb child who doesn't deserve to know anything about what's going on around him in MGS2 and refuses to take into consideration his physical and mental state in MGS4 (that scene with Raiden before Shadow Moses, I don't even...) and acts like he wants to crucify a 6 y/o girl for burning his breakfast... Ok, I'm done ranting for now.

Big Boss is without a doubt the most "human" of all the Snakes. Did he misunderstand The Boss' intententions? Yes. Did he lose his mind after all those years of being used and/or betrayed? Yes. Did any of this turn him into a senseless killing machine with no sense of compassion for another human being? Never.
BB despite being "the greatest soldier who ever lived" isn't a 90's action movie hero. He's a person. He's a human with his strenghs and weaknesses, both of which he's able to show, and not just hide under big words like "I don't have anymore tears to shed" OK, I'm sorry, I'm really done ranting about Solid now

Raiden has a really good backstory and is a totall badass imho in MGS4, but he loses points for being basically a joke character up until the last 2 hours of MGS2. Still love him tho. :3

I'm not going to talk about V. The only thing I'll say is that it would be better if the game would upfront about who he is in the very beginning and spare this "big twist" bullshit.
