instead of playing games, you play with your body. But, it's more like going for steam achievements - you skip the fun stuff just so you can show off your badges

Yes, eating better and lifting weights will give you a better body in time.

You can start reading at:
https://www.reddit.com/r/naturalbodybuilding/

You can also get a better body by eating better and running and/or swimming.

I don't think you will find any real bodybuilders here
since it require a lot of time and energy to just do that.

I believe you mean bulking and cutting / (toning)
,when talking about bodybuilders.

The Bulk: A period of time when the primary goal is building muscle, gaining weight, increasing strength, or all of the above. Calorie intake is increased so a caloric surplus is present.
The Cut: A period of time when the primary goal is losing fat, losing weight, getting leaner, or all of the above. Calorie intake is decreased and/or calorie expenditure is increased so that a caloric deficit is present.

Bodybuilders add bulk to maximize muscle size regardless of strength. Powerlifters lift weights to maximize strength regardless of muscle size or definition.

If you are just starting stick to the major lifts for the first year before doing anything else (Squat, deadlift, benchpress). anything more like arm curls, i.e. accessory exercises, are useless and could cause injuries or overtraining. Overtraining can be worse than not lifting at all. lift no more than 3 times a week and eat alot of protein.

If you are going to be dramatically changing your diet, seek the advice of a professional and don't self medicate. People have died from eating too much of the wrong stuff and caused all sorts of problems for themselves.
