That could be it but why not wait for your region or go for the original region. Unless your region don't get one and you can't read Japanese.

Or maybe because they don't want to deal with the company that handles Square Enix's online store, Digital River (which has an appalling reputation and is known for massive screw ups in orders; ie: Ni no Kuni limited edition).

As it's a square enix online store exclusive, I think digital river will have a hand in it at some point but I didn't know about its reputation.

Search Digital River Screw ups or Digital River Ni no Kuni, even Digital River Darksiders and you'll find plenty of people who want their head on a platter. It's the only reason why I didn't order the collectors edition of X/X2 from the Squeenix shop. Though I may breakdown and buy the Drakenguard one.
