Naming my child Commander, gonna get her sheep and a farm and call her commander Shepard.

Well they liked the name and they decided to give it to their child... I don't really see what the problem could be.

I personally think Zorah is a nice name as well. I actually think it's nice that she'll later be able to choose between each truncation.
She just has to write more on official forms.
Overall, I dig it. Unique but not over the top.

In a near future being named after a video game character will probably be common, like names after a book heroes. And Tali is a nice name. But Tali'Zorah... well, it may be difficult for her growing up with such name, apostrophe and problematic spelling.
But there's a chance she'll grow up to love both the character and name.

it wouldn't be the first name with an apostrophe.

Yeah, but with a made-up name it'll probably be a problem telling people over and over where it should go.

All names are "made up" FWIW.
Non-traditional might be what you're looking for there.
Comment has been collapsed.
Well, most of them come from particular words and have meanings, so I didn't count them as "made up", but yeah, non-traditional is a better word here, thanks.

"Tali" means "dew from Heaven", from Hebrew. "Zorah" is a Slavic name, meaning "dawn".

I know, these are both nice names, but I meant Tali'Zorah as a combo. Dew from Heaven at dawn? Actually sounds pretty good.

Hard to love some character you're named after when your head is in toilet. Which is the future I predict for both her and that kid called whatever Bethesda wanted when Skyrim was being released.
Unless they will go to some gamers-school, where instead talking how dreamy Leonardo DiCaprio is, they will talk how dreamy Ezio is...
Unless schools will change in next 10 years and being nerd won't get you bullied by jocks.

well it was an excelent game. And I don't see anything bad in choose a name from a game to ur kid/pet or even home. But that's just me maybe...'Cause I'm pretty sure that my parents Goro and Sheeva will let me name my kid Yoshimitsu :-"

Because a kid is not a pet or a house. You don't wonder how your cat feels about its name when it is 27.

Article writes ""Luke" is an excellent name, for example." and of course goes on to mention Star Wars. Instead of, you know... the Bible. Either one could be a... I'm not going into that on this forum.
For every ten that will pick on that kid for her name, 100 won't know/care, and at least one will love her for it. It's original, it sounds like something her parents shared as a great memory. I'm fine with it. Kids, being age zero, rarely have a say in their own name -- for better or worse. Not one name is ever truly safe -- you could be named after a person in the Bible and then people all of a sudden associate you with some Skywalker character.

yes...like a character from a movie or game can't have a real name.

my point about Luke, while trying to avoid religious debate, being that it's only "an excellent name" because it's been around for a few hundred years, despite the fact that it is often taken from a book (not from a more recent movie), and that book may as well have been that century's equivalent of a video game.

I agree with u...i wanna say that they tell that like those names from games or movies aren't real.

I think its a pretty name to be honest, unique also, I see no problems here.

Names have got to come from some where and it's not like it's a terrible name or anything. So I say let them do it.

Baby naming, in general, is dumb.
This particular name is well within reasonable.

Tali'Zorah not a bad game...it is quite a good one. What would have u said if she was named Justin Bieber? ...or just Bieber?
Comment has been collapsed.
A bit too much? Nah, Tali is a cool name.

146++ baby girls have been named Khaleesi, not even "Daenerys".
So Tali, a very beautiful name. :D

I probably wouldn't name my child, if I'm ever going to have one, like that... But it's quite different here I think. I would prefer some good traditional name, which isn't too common at the moment. I mean, it's not that good to have 3 kids with same name in class...

Banjo put that camera off! No! Not Camera, the camera!...fuck i try.

i see no problem in this at all. infact i love it ~

She can use whatever name she wants. There were shitloads of girls I knew growing up that didn't want to share their middle name. Don't ask me why.
But she's not going to get anymore shit than she already would've received at school based on the name.
Plus, I don't know why the Zorah part is putting people off. It's a inoculate for the obviously inevitable Taliwhacker comments.
Again, no name is safe, regardless.
