The page isn't loading for me but I have sent you a friend request

Just registered, and first suggestion. You should at least require an email address to register. From what I see, all I need right now is to create a username + password, so I could basically create an army of accounts to leech?
Comment has been collapsed.
Steam account sounds like the best. People can still create multiple Steam accounts to register, but it's much more trouble than a simple username + password registration.
I'm curious, how do you intend to send the winner his/her game? You don't have access to a user's email or contact info. Will it be sent directly through the website?
Comment has been collapsed.
I'm guessing the same way TremorGames does, with either giving you a code in your account on the site, or gifting the game directly on Steam.

I'll edit this comment as I find bugs, issues or suggestions.
So far, I love the fact that you have a "Transaction History" for your credits. Pretty neat.
Cheers! ^^

First bit of feedback:
1) I think the economy should lose a zero or even two zeroes across the board.
2) I typically browse the web on a portrait-oriented 1080x1920 screen and the layout of your site doesn't quite work.
Otherwise, I'm waiting to see/hear what your other ideas are. On Tremor, I do surveys, etc. to earn coins to buy games - so I'm turning my time investment into "game money". How will your site work - I just go there and get coins? So essentially, every couple of weeks I can buy a bundle scrap with the coins I got by opening your site every day? I didn't actually try it, but if that middle column on the site is essentially a raffle system where I can enter multiple times by spending more coins, I won't be interested in those. Seems a lot like SteamCompanion, and I won't touch raffle GAs there either - if it's a spending race to win, I'd rather just buy the game.

Hi jbmccune.
Thanks for the feedback very much appreciated.
Yes. I've had another request to lose 3 zeros which I think will happen. And I'll take a look at the layout on that res.
To earn credit like on tremor games you go to the Earn page. There are links to sites called Faucets, you can accumulate bitcoins from these sites which are turned directly to site credit.
The GAs are raffles. But you can absolutely take the option of buying the game you want instead. Personally I would enter one of the raffles when the number of entries is below the price you can buy it at. But everyone likes different things.
I'll look at how the GAs go before I change anything but. Single entry is definately an option and changing the entry costs are also an option.

Moving my EDIT to here, and adding.
Also, if I'm understanding the Terms correctly, we are free to do what we want with the keys, whether "bought" or "won", so more like Tremor in that regard.
Another thing I'm not happy about is that we can't remove entries for giveaways.
The problem with raffles is that there's a good chance you'll walk away with nothing, whereas a purchase is guaranteed. I'm not a gambler. :)
I'm not familiar with Faucets - I'll have to check them out, but I honestly saw "Bitcoins" and looked elsewhere, as I have no interest in that economy and it wasn't clear what would be under "Earn" (still isn't...it could be requests for nude photos, trojan app downloads, who knows). :)
Comment has been collapsed.
Yeah I get it about the bitcoins thing. Alot of people don't want to be involved.
I guess I'm trying to introduce something new to people also. I probably need to put a few more details or FAQ about how it all works.
I'm not sure on the removing entries thing :) I'll add it to my thing about pile. I think it'll depend on how the economy settles out.
Comment has been collapsed.
On the credits front I'll probably also add some extra bonuses for completely different tasks around the site. like buying a game for the first time. Gettting a faucet deposit for the first time. Winning a GA for 1st time. etc.
But I haven't completely nutted these out yet. But they will definitely be retroactively applied to anyone helping me out here.

I'd be willing to help out, not sure how much help I can be, kind of time pressed.

Hi, site looks good but needs work on load time and view ability on iPad/tablets etc . I'm new to Bitcoin stuff and it all seems a bit overly complicated for me. I suggest an idiots guide for the link sites and how long it will take points to be awarded. I think once you get it going it will be really good :) is there a button to link steam account yet or did I just miss it?

ok this didn't show up when i did it on ipad, does show when on pc :)

I know the looks of the website will probably be worked on later, but when it comes to presenting the available games and all that information on the front page, it looks a bit cluttered/compressed.
Otherwise signing up was painless and the site isn't sluggish.
Went through a bunch of faucets and tried those out. Neat idea, trading points on the website for bitcoins.
I'm seeing comments about some way for users to communicate and I think it's a good idea to have a shoutbox or something. I keep coming back to websites like Steamgifts over something like Steam Companion partly because there's a community I can follow. Worth looking into, at least for the future.
I also sent a friend request on Steam since I see you're also exchanging cards for points.

I made an account. Will update with suggestions later.

Well not entirely correct. :)
For reference
100 Million satoshi/credit is currently worth $430 USD but it fluctuates around.
If buying games via bitcoin/satoshi on the website you'll be paying between $0.10 and $.80 per game.
If you sign up and login a few days you can buy your first game from a dozen or so choices within 2 days to a week.
If you plan on using the faucets you could buy several games a week consistently.
Thanks
Andy

Thanks BraveDave. I'll take a look at it. Seems like you missed out on the Signup bonus. Did you get it eventually?
I'm not aiming for alot of user interaction at the moment and more of a utility site where you would come to get the best deals on steam bundles/card games. If the community did grow, I would look at adding something like a forum.
For now I'm looking at creating an anonymous leaderboard or sorts to let people know what some users have already achieved/won.

Yes if you click on the hello bravedave! Link. There should be a login through steam button at the bottom of the page. I don't think the link appears on the mobile version of the site though.
I'll work on trying to make it a bit easier. And fixing the -1000 thing of course :)

Looks very interesting. I registered. Good luck =]

Hi whitywind,
Yes, the earn page links contains my referral link. The site is all about collecting every inch of value from the internet to bring you the best deals I can. Also bear in mind for those few hundred you've earned me. I also provide 20,000 for linking your account and 2,000 everyday you visit my site and the opportunity to earn the credit yourself. You're not required to use my referral links but I appreciate if you can.
I'm extremely glad you've jumped in. I hope you'll find it rewarding. I will most definitely will be here tomorrow. :) I have plenty more keys to add. I'm just getting started.
If you do have a problem or feel something is off or unfair please let me know.
Thanks
Andy

I don't mind using referral links as long as they aren't on SG.
You put in Bitcoin microtransactions on your website to get a small amount of reward from each users, which I think is an interesting way. It looks new for me. Bitcoin has still too many flaws to be the major currency but one of the strengths of it is that you pay almost no fee for the transactions. And it's raising the value against the real currencies nowadays.. you may be able to make the profit larger XD
My suggestion is about the item set of the reward for users. I wanted Bloodrayne Betrayal but it seems gone now. You should keep several copies of each game as always as possible so as not to discourage users for the lack of wanted games. And they should be good ones even if they are cheap or once free.

It could be possible to show how many available keys are left for each games? That would help to understand if you need to hurry to make points to buy it, cause its the last one, or if you can take it with calm cause there are quite a few keys available.

Registered. Interesting website, but I must say that it'll need a bit of work:
A few suggestions:
-Hello <user nickname> !: I had to click it by chance to understand that it would take me to the settings page. I would like to suggest to change it in something like "Manage account", "Account details", "Settings" or a gear icon(like Tremor Games and other websites) to make it more clear.
-The GA column on the main page: .may I suggest to substitute the "Win" with something more appropriate like "Giveaway", "Raffles" or "Lottery"?
-Steam key store: its not really clear that you've to click the price to buy it. It would be useful to add a "Buy" button instead(and also to make it more clear that that number is related to your credits or, with the Steam's price under it, it could give place to some misunderstanding, like if you're about to pay that price on real money, as if you were on a website like G2A).
-More colours: I find it a little too "white". Maybe you're already working on it and I hope my message doesn't sound too bothersome, but some colours, on the right place, could help to attire attention on the right parts of the website.
-Earn: I would like to suggest to add a "credits" after it, to make it more clear what you're going to earn(maybe even something like "Earn more credits").
If something else comes to my mind, I'll add it here ;)
EDIT:
-Tutorial/Achievements: you could implement a similar system as used on Tremor Games, to teach the user how to use the features of the website whilst rewarding him/her with a little medal+credits. For example: "Set your password for the first time: click the "Hello <user nickname>!", insert your new password and confirm it to earn 20 credits" or "Join your first giveaway: reward 10 credits" followed by "Join 10 giveaways: reward 50 credits" and then "Join 100 giveaways: reward 150 credits" and so on. That would push the users to try to visite and use all the parts of your website.

You're welcome, Ahar010 =)
I'm glad if my suggestions could be of any help to you.
For your website UI, if you don't have already a set plan in mind, I would suggest to go more for a graphical one(icons instead of words); that would help on an international level, because it would need a lower knowledge of the English language(even if you don't know the word "Settings", it easy to link the gear icon image to a options/settings page; a letter for the messages, ecc...). It would be also useful for the FAQ/Tutorial, to have image or video on "how to do/use" the features of the site.
If you'll see a lot of activty, you could add a leaderboard that report the top10 of users with most points earned/owned. Maybe add a monthly reward for the first 3 on the leaderboard. That could push a little the other users to be more active and to try to complete more offer to earn more credits.
On the FAQ, on the answer of the last line, there is a misspelling or missing word: But the of good faucets is smaller. I think it's missing "list" or "number"
EDIT: maybe, implement a Referral system, that reward user for every new user recruited and also give them a little percenteage of the credits earned by referred users. That would help you to get a lot more users.
2°EDIT: on the store page, for every single products, could you add a "Check game on Steam" button that redirect the user/buyer to the Steam page of that game, instead of having to click the cover of the game, that is not really intuitive(I clicked it, thinking that it would have took me to a page for the product with some description, still on your site, and not outside, to Steam)?
3°EDIT: on the main page, the left column, it would be possible to divide the single games as you did with the middle column? As it is now, it look a little squashed and some time the buy button is not clear if it is for the one up or down.

For what concern the giveaways, it would be useful to be able to see the ended one and who won them. That would help also to prove the legitimacy of your website(maybe, if their account is linked already to Steam, it would be possible to click on the winner's name to get redirected to their Steam's profile, to check personaly the winner, if this is not a privacy violation...it shouldn't be, but better check twice before implementing it).
I saw that you've add the "Buy" button to the games on the front page, but it is not available on the store one.
If I can suggest it, I think that the giveaways should also show if the game has or not the cards and for what platform it works(Windows, MAC and/or Linux) like the one on sale.
I must report what I think is a bug: on my settings page, even if I already linked my account to Steam(to be correct, I made my account logging directly with Steam), on the bottom of the page, it still appear the option and the buttom to link my account to Steam.
EDIT: another "bug": if you click "Site stats" on the bottom of the page, it will redirect you to a "Server error page":
Server Error in '/' Application.
The resource cannot be found.
Description: HTTP 404. The resource you are looking for (or one of its dependencies) could have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable. Please review the following URL and make sure that it is spelled correctly.
Requested URL: /Account/SiteStats.aspx
2°EDIT: the last bug seem to appear only some time, not always. For example, after a couple of try, I've been able to correctly reach the right page.
3°EDIT: Joe's Diner has the cards(I own the badge lv1 :P).

Thanks Aleandrus,
I've fixed up the SiteStats link. Also added some extra anonymous stats on users. (You'll only see yourself if you appear on the list)
Personally I do think the privacy thing is a bit of an issue. For the stats and the GAs. I think winners or people with alot of credit would become targets for beggars or hackers.
I will add a completed giveaways page so you can see how many entries there were eventually but as with the stats I think it would be anonymous.
I'll likely then add in the ability to opt-in to display your name on such pages.

I saw them, nice addittion; it would be usefull to be able to see the current progress of the challenge/deed. For example: for the "Make 25 entries into giveaways", adding a line that report how many are left like "12 giveaways left to complete the task".

Do you want user testers or website testers? have done website design courses and can spot of few things wrong from a quick glance
-no Title & Alt tags for images
-no site map
-no disclaimer
-no ease of access controls
-width not set for some images
-pointless images
-tables badly done, & the use of tables
-webpages link back to themselves
-no Meta for description and keywords
-entire body within form tag???
-no website documentation
-php documentation documented as html documentation
-using html instead of xhtml, lack of the use of dev and span tags & CSS =P

yeah websites are very different to computer programming

I'm back with another "bugs report". ^^
http://www.bitofsteam.com/TOS
"Any information collected will not be distributed to any 3rd parties."
"Third" would look more professional than "3rd" (optional)
http://www.bitofsteam.com/FAQ
"Bitcoin Faucet give away small ammounts of Bitcoins in exchange for the traffic you generate by visiting their site."
"Ammount" -> "Amount" (mandatory)
http://www.bitofsteam.com/About
"All games in the store are a steam keys and can be brought for huge discounts on the Steam store prices."
and
"Site credit can be brought using bitcoins or earned for free by logging in daily or using Bitcoin Faucets."
"Brought" -> "Bought" (mandatory)
The rest looks pretty neat. Some pieces of text need some work, and I feel like the amount of points we get is too high (especially the card thing, 20K a single card? Alternatively, maybe increase the price of giveaway entries?)
Cheers! This is already looking much better than the last time I visited. Keep it up. :D

Bowing to public opinion :) I have removed two zeros form the display of the credits. The change is just cosmetic and all balances and prices remain the same underneath. If anyone prefers the display in Satoshi the option is available to revert to the old display in the account manage page.

Hi,
I'm launching a new site in the New Year for winning/earning/buying bundle games. More like TremorGames than SteamGifts
It's very early stages so site functionality is limited and there are bugs. But I'm only looking for a small number of people so chances of winning something is high.
I'm looking for anyone interested in being involved in the creation of the website. Your suggestions will help form the final product.
If you are interested you can add me on Steam or register at the website www.bitofsteam.com
Let me know if you have questions. After I've got a few volunteers I'll close the thread.
Update
It's been going well. I've given out over 2 Million in site credit so far. Thanks for all your feedback. I've been making improvements. So I've re-opened the thread as I think the functionality is basically there but I need a bit more volume to check the dynamics are working and people like the idea :).
Don't be afraid to post negative feedback, but try to keep it constructive :)
Update 2
The site economy has had two zero's removed.
A past giveaways page is available to see winners once they have claimed their win.
Alot more games added to the store.
Update 3
Added alot of extra games to the Store (70 games now available)
Given out 40k in site credit.
Over 100k Million spent in the store.
Added 2,600 credit in potential rewards
I'm still loving taking feedback. Alot is in the development pipeline. I will target to Go-Live on Monday.
Update 4
Two Months in now.
Over 200 games in stock
Given out 110k in site credit.
Almost 300k credit spent in the store. For over $4000USD worth of steam games
58 Giveaways claimed
Thanks
Andy
