AS far as I know, I believe that only applies to Public giveaways, you can make your own rules for Private or Group giveaways as I understand.

.. You've indeed been here a year, and yet don't know one of the most basic and simple site rules. You spout off in an authoritative tone that custom rules aren't allowed, period, as if you know what you say for a fact (which you don't), and act offended when someone posts a polite and helpful message in response, as if you're implying they're acting condescending / patronising.
For Khalaq to assume you haven't bothered ever reading the FAQ / site rules isn't exactly a huge leap of logic, as you apparently don't know how a very basic site rule works. "I haven't done any private giveaways yet" is entirely irrelevant, and only serves to further illustrate that you indeed haven't ever bothered checking the site FAQ / rules, as you having made a priv. GA or not would have no bearing on the knowledge you would have gleaned from reading the FAQ.
Someone who is so obviously offended by the mere suggestion they don't know site workings properly - even when the suggestion is entirely logical given the context, warranted and politely worded - should be aware of the way such a basic rule works after a year+ on the site, and certainly should have read the site FAQ / rules; which you obviously haven't.
Basically - it's not your place to act so butthurt and snippy in this situation.

Why do you even interfere in my affairs? No offense but nobody asked for your opinion and this just doesn't concern you. Yeah, I was wrong, so what? You sound like you've never been wrong in your entire life. I don't know much about creating private giveaways because I haven't done any yet, that sounds like a pretty damn good reason to me.
I also don't know how indie developers publish their games on Steam because it's none of my business. Does that mean I have no clue how Steam works? Think about that.
Oh, and by the way, the OP didn't seem to have a moderator's permission at this point in time so technically I was right.

You really have missed all the points I raised. 100%. slow clap
"Why do you even interfere in my affairs? No offense but nobody asked for your opinion and this just doesn't concern you." Why? Because you acted like a offended douche to someone merely trying to be nice and point you towards the site rules / FAQ, in a very polite way. Aside from that, people who don't have the decency to give a damn about site rules, thus don't bother reading them for a year+ irk me, on any site. As another member of the site, it absolutely concerns me, as I share this site with you, and I am entirely within my rights to voice my opinion; one which I'm sure many regular site goers / long-time members would agree on.
"I also don't know how indie developers publish their games on Steam because it's none of my business. Does that mean I have no clue how Steam works? Think about that."
That's an absolutely false and irrelevant analogy. Let's see if wording myself differently makes any difference as to your understanding of what I'm saying, as clearly my original message flew right over your head - evidenced by your stinted and irrelevant "counter-points".
We're talking about site rules, stuff you're expected to and should know after 1+ years on any site (unlike your pointless Steam analogy, where no one expects you to know how Steam works, nor is reading up on how it works any form of "decent thing to do"), especially if you're going to act offended when someone very politely points you to where you can read the site rules that you've neglected to read in all your time here. I wonder, by the way, if you've bothered reading them in the meantime.
As for "the OP didn't seem to have a moderator's permission at this point in time so technically I was right"? Oh really? Umm, firstly, reading all of OP's comments on here, he did ask for permission for his rules, albeit after he created the giveaway. If his requested rules aren't absolutely asinine, support most likely would forgive his mistake just this once, and approve the rules, asking him to modify his GA description to reflect such. And yes, he too made a mistake while being a member for a year+, but he's acting pro-active, polite, and admitting he screwed up when faced with it by others, unlike you. Second, your original statement was "it doesn't work that way. They won't re-roll the giveaway if somebody wins who doesn't meet your requirements because these are no official rules." You said this in ignorance of how the rules actually work (as evidenced by your own later comments), hence what that line meant in your head when you typed it was simple - "you're not allowed to have custom rules, only 'official' rules apply." That's not technically right;- it's not even a tiny bit right.
Why are you still trying to try and worm this argument in your favour with stinted analogies and arguments based on twisting context and fact? Can't you just say "yeah, I did act a little douche-y, my bad, and indeed, Khalaq was playing nice. And yeah, I should know the rules by now. Let me correct that and read them now." But no, you insist on trying to spin things in your favour and even try to cling on to "but I was technically right" (when - again - you weren't). Pretty lame and unappealing.

Okie well this post is 1 year old and I was told since then that it was ok. I placed a support request to validate my special condition, that's if it even needs validation.. still consider this as approved because I really don't see why support wouldn't allow me to do so. Don't you guys think my special condition makes sense ?

The FAQ redirected to the post I linked so I guess it's still valid.
"Extraneous/special rules for giveaways require moderator approval. Public giveaways cannot have any special rules. Would you like to know more?"
And sure, your special condition make perfect sense. I dont mind it at all but there's always a chance they will deny a reroll without approval. Some people will ignore it for sure so theres a chance you're gonna need it :P
Oh and thanks for the very nice giveaway :P

Support needs to manually approve any and all custom rules on private / group GAs for a very simple reason - to prevent support being spammed with extremely unfeasible re-roll requests if a wanted rule means most likely entrants will be ineligible to win due to said rule (which could cause potentially hundreds of re-roll requests for one giveaway on one so public as a forum giveaway), and to avoid people trying to slap incredibly unfair / offensive / arbitrary rules on their giveaways, including stuff like requiring people to subscribe to a Youtube channel, or make a purchase off some site, etc.

if its private you can even say reroll if the carpet doesnt match the hair as far as i know.. as long as you tell it BEFORE hand

You can't have special rules for public giveaways period. For group (excluding large groups like s.gifts) and private giveaways, you still need permission from support.

That's too bad, I own MW1 & MW2 and played them all, was looking forward to playing MW3 as well.

Best Buy and Future Shop in Canada.. It was actually a sign in store with none left but the clerk told me I might be lucky online. He even let me use a computer there and I grabbed my 2 copies when it said there was 3 left.. after my purchase it was down to 0. I'd be surprised you'd still be able to find some :(

heh, MW3 is the only COD game I have in my account. Thank you anyway :)

I only play CoD games for single player campaign o.o
Well, I own the first Modern Warfare and I only played it for storyline at least >.<

I sometimes play it...or used to play it for it's multiplayer. Not because it's anything groundbreaking but because it's a mindless shooter. After a long day sometimes nothing is better than running and shooting people and requiring no thought or tactics.

Given local prices for many of the games in the series, I don't currently own any. I think you for the chance.

No, I'm thinking of him. Not like the rest of the entries, only thinking of themselves. :P

Already own two other COD games. Thanks for the giveaway and I hope things turns out well. Saw a lot of crap lately when some of my other group members decided to rely on member ethics than support approval for applying special rules. Most of them turned out shitty.

By having a COD game, you mean in their Steam account? I remember playing MW2 like no one's business in LAN's back in the day (like....6 years ago?) but i never really owned it myself. If you count that as not owning it, then i'm in.
For the moment i'll join, but if you tell me i can't enter, i'll remove the entry.

Hi guys,
I fumbled on some clearance sale for Call of Duty : Modern Warfare 3 in store, knowing these games almost never go on sale and if they do it's barely 50% off so I grabbed a copy for myself and thought I could get an extra copy for someone here.
I made the giveaway Private just so I could add one special condition.. the winner needs to NOT OWN any Call of Duty Game. Simple reason, I don't want someone to grab this and never actually play it because they own some other, or even worse, some more recent CoD game. I feel like they're about all the same so I'd like this copy to go to someone who actually wants to play it.
Other small detail.. you need $137.88 CV.

UPDATE
My special rule was approved by support so CoD owners stay away from this giveaway :P
