This is not a basic shitty Hidden Object game, this is classified as an Point and Click Adventure game.
Those are fun and good.

Most of them are crap, I tried a couple that looked interesting, didn't like most of them.
One of them however was really damn good. I can't remember the name (if I could I'd probably get it and play it again). The art-style was pretty good (comic style look if I remember right), you played a detective and the story which now I can't even remember was interesting enough to keep me playing to the end. Yes, I actually liked the game enough to beat it.
EDIT: It was "Nick Chase and the Deadly Diamond".

One of the Markets and if they are made well, with good artwork and decent story, good puzzles, and all that, they are actually enjoyable.
And I have no idea what ones you are talking about in pink jewel cases. O_o All the ones I have seen (and gotten some) were either in the thick paper envelopes, black plastic cases like DVDs come in, or an actual game box with artwork and everything. clicky clickety cliiick clack cleeeck
And yeah, just because you do not get a certain game type or game(s) itself doesn't mean it is junk. Games like CS:GO, DOTA2, LoL, TF, MOBAs and MP games, aren't my cup of tea, but I don't knock them because I know plenty of people that enjoy them and even love them. To each their own.
Edit BTW, when I lived in Seattle, I actually got to go tour BFG studio and on numerous occasions, tested games for them ($50 for 1-2 hrs). Gave feedback, got further on some of them than other testers had and was able to point out glitches to them. Got to see a couple from their bigger series (Mystery Case Files and Drawn) actually being worked on and how they did it. Got invited to the launch party of one of their Mystery Case Files games a couple yrs ago. They are all very nice people. Cool place. And LOVED doing the game testing. Usually it was PC games, but a few times it was for some of their mobile games (not all of them were the HOG adventure games, a few were their general P&C and puzzle games)

You're more than a housewife!
Do you have children?

Sadly, no.
While I do love cats, they're my favorite "regular" domestic animals to have as pets, they are in no way on par with having children. lol o_O Unless your kids eat out of a dish on the floor, poor in a box full of sand and kill small animals that are then left on doorsteps/inside shoes etc.
But seriously, you're more than just a housewife, right? You don't just sit at home all day and do nothing, do you? o_O
Sounds kind of like my life, but I have no choice, I'm disabled. >_< Damn car accident! :(

I'm not sorry! :D I could be a lot worse off than I currently am and I always have my video games to cheer me up when I'm down! 8-)

I like them, and I'm neither married nor over 25. Does that help any?
I've always liked having a few HOG and simple P&C adventure games around - as well as other 'tedious' games, like Sims and Minecraft. Things that don't require much brain power, basically. But I like having them for the nights I can't sleep. I've had a lot of trouble with nightmares since I was about 13 because PTSD.
They help me wind down and clear my head. If it weren't for that, I don't think I'd still be interested in them, which is a shame, really.. I've grown to really like the genre. :)
Though I prefer the ones that have a nice balance of Point and Click adventure in there, too. Like Nightmares from the Deep. There's an inventory where you can combine every object with every other object and smash it into every clickable thing on the screen until something happens. It just goes to Hidden Object to pick up "important" items.
The ones that are just solid "Read some dialogue and then pretend you're playing a Find It: Picture Book" are often far too tedious, even for me to enjoy.

I sometimes find it annoying that you need certain tools just to do the simplest of things.
Like needing a rock to break a window, when you have a hammer or a crowbar in your inventory.

Moms, older people, other people? Yes housewives too, it's a very casual, laid-back and non-stressful game.

Id prefer a well made HOG over a lot of modern indie games on steam. Actually, I have a BigFishGames Account and some HOG. Its nice to have some non-violence, non-competetive games that actually do not need many skills to be completed. I cannot relax while playing a moba or shooter or whatever. But playing a HOG can be calming.
Horses for courses, Id say.

They're this generation's shovelware. Because god-awful cheap-ass Wii party games are so next-gen.
If done well, they can be as entertaining as a solid regular point&click adventure. If they're done poorly they have about as much impact as a third-rate visual novel.

I played a couple. The only one i really liked was Midnight Mysteries: Sleepy Hollow. It had a nice style and mood. Most of them are generic. I'd guess since they're more like casual games they're aimed at people who find actual adventure games too complicated. Dream Chronicles was a nice middle ground. It's like a hidden object games but with actual puzzles and riddles. Like a poor man's Myst.

I'm neither a kid nor a housewife, and I sometimes do play HOGs.
Some of them can be pretty neat, especially the ones that nailed the atmosphere they were going for.

Yeah, but only in cooperative mode with my sister(she was playing and I helped when she started to cry) 6-8 years ago. Mostly on bigfishgames etc. All of them had very generic, prerendered graphics, specific for most flash adventures.
To be honest, sometimes I think about find out what is the "best of the best" and give it a try once again.
