Didnt Starbound get a huge update not too long ago?

There are a few games there that I have issues with but I absolutely went with Towns. Complete pants. The screenshots are entirely unachievable in game in the state it was left in, and appear to have been created with photoshop or similar. The game is broken and abandoned. The only updates were very minor and drastically increased crashes. It remains entirely unfinished and barely playable long after it's 'full release'. It's frankly fraud that it is still up for sale.
Gnomoria is far is better and cheaper, assuming that anyone can't actually cope with Dwarf Fortress.
And I'd just like to mention Kinetic Void as the second worst early access crap that I have gotten involved in. Starbound isn't as good as I hoped but still way above the previously mentioned junk...

I still remember when it was initially released, and they only had like 8 sounds in the game, including a wav still named "chopping leeks" for when you cut wood, and awkward voices of someone grunting into a mic for when a citizen dies. I had a jump on it about a year ago, and one of the most vital things was still broken : Pathfinding/zoning. For a game where you run a town for adventurers to stay in while they're dungeoning, it's pretty vital to make sure your citizens don't run down into your dungeon to tidy up the dust and cobwebs in the boss room. :p
Kinetic Void, le sigh, so much wasted potential.

I'd be interested in knowing why you chose these. The only ones I'm aware of any controversy regarding are Space Base and Towns.

Agreed. The rest are at least dubious, but Starbound is just taking a long time to get finished, which is okay in my book. If you want to talk about unfinished promises after insane amounts of time that might be scandalous, depending on who you ask, maybe Star Citizen, but not really Starbound.

Starbound is pretty disappointing in my opinion but it certainly isn't abandoned or a scam compared to some of the other junk that early access has produced...

Hmm, Starbound hasn't been abandoned. Chucklefish posts updates like every other day. :)
Out of the list I'd have to go with Stomping Land. I was majorly excited about that game.

I'm not really invested in any of the given options, so I just clicked "Other" and listed a couple of the blatant scam ones I know about: Voxelized and Protocol. I don't own or have any desire to play either of them, but they're both clear cases of "sh*t out a product, grab any money you can and run" from the devs. Plus I've seen several GAs for each on this very site.

I didn't know that Under the Ocean was abandoned, but I read about it and the guy said he had some financial problems right now and he's working on this in between of working on other things (he released Fistful of Gun lately, which is an awesome game but it didn't sell too well).
So it's not abandoned but progressing very slowly.
clicky

Yeah, me too...I think it needs and deserves more attention.

Wow, I'm surprised no one has mentioned the clusterfuck that was NETHER.
Also, Starbound abandoned? Huh? What have I missed?

Maybe not worse, but definitely on par. It seemed soooo promising, and then devs just packed their toys and left...

It did?! Holy crap. Nether seemed so fun back in the day, way before the devs abandoned it. If they want to revive it, well, godspeed to them.

+1
Nether was good in the beginning and had major potential. This is taken from the Phosphor games:
ATTENTION NETHER COMMUNITY – PHOSPHOR GAMES IS BACK IN THE DRIVER’S SEAT!!
Phosphor Games is pleased to announce that we have reached an agreement to re-take the lead on Nether. We don’t own it, but have creative and operational control over the title.
Since last year, we have been among you, the fans and users, frustrated with how the game has evolved. We want to go back to the roots of Nether.
Here is what we are going to do:
1) We have a small team so please be patient, but the 1st order of business is getting you back the original game! So, by Halloween (Nether’s 2 year anniversary BTW), we will have the MBER back end ripped out, the game rolled back to the build we launched out of early access in the summer of 2014 (when we were the developer for the game), and you will be able to play local single player. From now on, all you’ll need is your Steam account, MBER accounts will no longer work or be required.
2) As soon after that as we can manage, we will have player hosted servers enabled, so you can set up your own games and play MP again! We want you to be able to own your game, and deal with cheaters and hackers how you see fit. Or, go set up a cheat bot and hack haven server, whatever you want!
3) We’ll also be ripping out the concept of gold, IAP, and any traces of pay to win.
4) After that, we want to start adding in mod tools and expose server settings so you can make the game even MORE what you want - more/less players per server, more/less guns in the game, more/less Nether in the world, more/less PvP, on/off Tribe friendly fire…we’ll work with you to figure out what server configurations you want to mess with, that we can enable.
All this will mean a full restart, which may be annoying for those who have a lot of progress, but it is the best we can do, and we sincerely hope that this Nether Resurrected will be stronger and more powerful than ever before! We will update the community often on our progress and the state of the title. The game should go back to being purchasable around the time of our re-release. So, get ready to have your game back and enjoy Single Player by Halloween, and soon after that to host your own games!
All the best from the folks at Phosphor

Heh. I was reading the "you decide" in the voice of ERB announcer. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aP00t0JWSg8

Didn't realise you had already done this.
I voted for Starforge. It's the only game I've left a negative review on Steam for (http://steamcommunity.com/id/TheScruffman/recommended/227680/) simply because the developers are so rude to their customers and get really defensive and uptight whenever you criticize their game.
