I skimmed, think I got the gist. In my experience, it seems like the subscription to the user's comments is limited, as I only get notifications like you mentioned for a short while after I have commented. I have also wanted to control this, but never seen a way yet. At least they have finally started having a post history link and the ability to unsub from discussions.

I don't think that happened to me yet, but then again I don't write comments on profiles very often. But from time to time I get notifications that someone wrote something to me on a forum, and when I check it it is just a random comment, sometimes several pages later in the same thread that has nothing to do with me whatsoever. No clue why steam thinks it could be interesting to me.

fast and helpful steam support is the answer. i'm sure they'll use all of their resources in order to solve your problem. cheers.

The same thing happens with user reviews. I think in both cases you are only notified about the next post made on the page, and will receive no further updates notifications if you don't continue posting there.

"Wuh, I think so, Brain, but how will we get three pink flamingos into one pair of Capri pants?"

Like others have said, I'm pretty sure it only sends you a notification when the next person comments after your comment, then you'll receive no further notifications, unless you comment again, of course. But I'd send support a message to see what their response is on the matter. Although you'll probably get an automated response, as usual.

Steam is becoming an over-bloated POS.
I hate how it is becoming more of a Facebook type of layout.
They need to make 2 versions of Steam: 1. Steam-Lite for those who want to game, 2. Steam-Bloated for those who want a buggy memory intensive app.

It happened to me when I commented in a discussion thread, I don't think there's an option added to ''unsuscribe'' yet, but If a profile gets massive comments after yours, you can delete your comment, just in the worst case.

Build a new platform to rival Steam that you are in complete control of? Then continue on to world domination?

So I comment on profiles, it's true. Every now and then I run into a situation where I seem to be subscribed to someones profile comments. I will get a message notification every time someone else comments. This does not seem to be all profiles, it doesn't last forever, and I can't find a way to stop it.
Anyone know of a way to end it if it's happening? Better yet, can it be avoided, without the obvious stop commenting on profiles solution.
You know, I'm thoroughly impressed with you making it this far in to my post. I tend to ramble(can you ramble via keyboard?) and appreciate those that actually make it to the end. Reply to this thread with a comment. Avoid comments that hint at there is a invite coming from it, because they will sadly be skipped. I'll send you a temporary invite to Lucky SGer Doing Any Nice Odd Neat Yet Most Often Useful Stuff for a game that will be decided by the wishlist of those invited! Just because you are awesome!! Yep YOU!!!
If you have nothing to contribute to the thread, that's ok, it's the thought that counts. A great reply for you could be: "I have a problem, LSDAnonymous my be the solution." Invites will be pulled 24-48 hours from now. Giveaway will be created after taking a peak on the wish list results, and created same day. There will be no cv restrictions. It will end within 72 or less after creation. This is not a lasting giveaway group, and is only used for my private giveaways. Membership only last until my current running private giveaway is marked as received, and then you are heartlessly kicked to the curb. Sorry, I'm a jerk. I can't help it. It's a problem.
And further more the, it pisses me off that Steam thinks they can just subscribe me to any ole profile they like! I mean what if I don't want to want to know all the crap they get on their profile and I just want to thank them or give them rep. Don't read this paragraph. It is only to throw people off from the juicy center, has no bearing on the topic really, and is strictly a waist of your time. For real. It will start again now. You were warned. How does Steam expect me to do that without getting my message box spammed with all these replies!?! It's stupid and unfair. I don't like it. Sorry for my rant, please check below.
Thanks and have a good day.
PS: Thanks for reading my entire post! I know I ramble, but it means a lot that you read the entire post. Your awesomeness, and the fact that you made it all the way to the end, let's you get a chance at this bad boy. The link is hidden, aren't I sneaky? View the page source, search for "2 da cheese!" and find something you may, or may not, like. I just want to reward you for reading the entire post, but didn't want anyone to just skip to the bottom and join. Psh, I'm too smart for them!
EDIT: Those of you that got to the juicy center, invites going out soon. No new post from NOW will be considered. Sorting through the relevant, sneaky, funny, and possibly other replies. Don't think you're reply is going to make the cut? You have 6ish hours or so to reply to your own reply with why it should. Creativity is king here. I'm a softie, all about 2nd chances. OR, maybe I'm just being a jerk since you didn't read the thread. Oh.... That would be cruel.
