Humble Europa Universalis IV Bundle

3 Tiers, 1 Game + 17 DLCs

21 Jan 2020 - 04 Feb 2020

View this bundle on: ITAD - Barter.vg - Lestrades

VERY IMPORTANT: the keys you receive are not consistent with what the bundle advertises.

The key labeled "Europa Universalis IV: Digital Extreme Edition Upgrade Pack" is actually "Europa Universalis IV Extreme Edition" (sub/28286) and already contains the base game "Europa Universalis IV".

If you buy T1 make sure to not waste your key for the base game and activate this upgrade pack instead.

1. This bundle DOES NOT contain a key that activates Europa Universalis IV: Digital Extreme Edition Upgrade Pack. Instead, this content is delivered via 3 keys: "Europa Universalis IV: Pre-Order Pack" and "Europa Universalis IV Extreme Edition" (sub/28286) and "Europa Universalis IV: American Dream DLC"

If you want to give this away as "Europa Universalis IV Extreme Edition" or "Europa Universalis IV: Digital Extreme Edition Upgrade Pack", you will need to give the winner both the "Europa Universalis IV: Pre-Order Pack" and "Europa Universalis IV: American Dream DLC" in addition to the key labeled as "Europa Universalis IV: Digital Extreme Edition Upgrade Pack" in your purchase page. You will get less CV this way. It's better to give this away as the base game instead.
More info in the following links:

2. This bundle DOES NOT contain a key that activates Content Pack - Europa Universalis IV: Dharma ($8, cosmetics, music). Instead, a key for Expansion - Europa Universalis IV: Dharma is given ($20, expansion).

I plan to buy the bundle. Would it be best to play some games first without some dlcs and then experience them later with some added?

Both common sense and art of war have stuff that should be in game, like upgrading provinces and conveniences. Playing without will be a chore

Just buy the T1 to lock in the price, then activate the 'Extreme' key, and give the game a try to see if you even like it?
Then you still have a base game to give away, some other DLCs to activate or give away / trade, and the option of upgrading to BTA.

Yup, I read the topic too late I already activated the base game so I wasted a key. Not the first time that I do something like that but eh still a good deal. I ain't a reasonnable person, I am one of those who has an impulse to buy haha. But thank you for the logical thinking there :)

From my experience with Skylines, Paradox DLCs are either things that should have been in the game, or with so many DLCs the game starts to go wrong or they actually suck.

Nice I was waiting for this when I saw they had a similar bundle for Crusader Kings 2. I have the base game but don't own a single EU IV dlc because I was expecting a bundle like these to eventually come out.

Instant buy for me for the entire bundle.

I can play Imperator Rome on gamepass actually and until EU V comes out, all those EU IV dlcs will still sell very well, so I don't think your scenario will happen.

They might give away the base game though just like they did with CK2.

Cool. I waited for this pack after CK2 :). Price is 2$ higher then for a CK2, but I dont have anything - even a base game (in case of CK2 I had base game and some expansions).

Need to check only 2 thing:

  • Are there all expansions. Edit: It looks that some dlc are missing :/. Big minus...
  • Not sure about value of T3 - T3 separately costs 11$, which is pretty high comparing to BTA price and content. But probably will buy t3 anyway. But first will check historical lowest price for T3 contents.
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I think all meaningful gameplay DLCs are included. The only missing one (the very first) is "Mostly Negative" on Steam.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

  • The only missing DLC is one which seems to be universally hated and not very good at what it claims to do (38% positive).
  • The highest-rated part of T3 is the Rule Brittania Immersion Pack, which has never sold for less than $4.99. The current difference between T2 (BTA) and T3 is $7.29 USD Thus, if you are interested in playing as at least one of the countries specialized in the other T3 DLC, you cannot beat this price.

This DLC bundle will probably never be offered again, or at least not for some time.

Am I checking the list wrong or is it missing Conquest of Paradise from the actual content DLC?

Edit: maybe also Dharma, as for some reason the Content pack is not an actual gameplay expansion but just cosmetics and music.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Conquest of Paradise is not advertised as included anywhere.

You are right: Dharma for $20 is included instead of the minor $8 Dharma "Content Pack" addon that the Humble page promises.

The key page however also just lists it as Europa Universalis IV: Dharma, that's why we didn't even notice when making the thread.

I want to make sure as you said that ilborghi is right that it is not included and then you said "Dharma for $20 is included instead of the minor $8 Dharma "Content Pack"" and i am confused:)

I wrote hastily. I didn't mean your table, I meant the actual bundle composition.
Shame, could be a deal breaker for me. I can't stand these incomplete collection, especially since this just seems arbitrary.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

It's not completely arbitrary. It's a 2014 "Mostly Negative" DLC, and its only big global gameplay affecting mechanic is also provided by the El Dorado DLC.
El Dorado is about the Incas, Mayas and other Mesoamerican nations; Conquest of Paradise about Native Americans.

Not sure if this info is outdated - https://steamcommunity.com/app/236850/discussions/0/1480982338949659014/

Of course we can't know if they didn't include it out of greed, or because they're still ashamed of how bad this DLC is, five years later.

Already own all of them and I can only recommend getting tier 3. $17 is nothing for the value you get here.
Obviously you have to play the game (a lot), to appreciate all the variety and depth the expansions add to the game. If you only want to play the game once or twice and move on, tier 1 is good enough.

Comment has been collapsed.

Uh. That description looks confusing. I'm not interested in the game, but I like to buy the Humble $1 tiers to give away here. I guess it would be okay to make one GA for Europa Universalis IV, one GA for the pre-order pack, and one for the extreme edition? Anything I should look out for?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

You can only make a giveaway for the Extreme Edition if you also give the winner the Pre-Order Pack and American Dream DLC keys. Otherwise it's incomplete.
The Extreme key alone can only be given away as the base game.

You get more CV by giving away Extreme as the base game ($39.99), instead of trying to get the $44.99 of the Extreme Edition by adding $6.99 and $4.99 keys to it.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Wat. I thought from the description that I couldn't make a GA for the Digital Extreme Edition upgrade pack without giving away two keys, I can't make a separate GA for Extreme edition either?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Nope, because the "full" Extreme Edition and the Upgrade DLC both would contain the Europa Universalis IV: Purple Phoenix and Europa Universalis IV: 100 Years War Unit Pack DLCs, which in this bundle are only delivered as part of the Pre-Order Pack DLC, as well as the Europa Universalis IV: American Dream DLC, which is why you would have to give that along.
(The rule on SG is that to earn your CV you must give away the correct complete content.)

You're welcome to suggest wording changes to clarify things in the OP.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

So, if I understood this right. The best thing to do would be to make one GA for Europa Universalis IV containing the base game key, and one GA for Extreme Edition, giving away the key for the pre-order pack and the "Digital Extreme Edition Upgrade Pack" (in Humble's words)?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

No, the best thing to do for your CV purposes is to give away EU4 and EU4 "Extreme" as the base game each.

Omg what a mess. So 2x Europa Universalis IV and 1x pre-order pack then. Thanks for clearing things up, have a whitelist for the trouble.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I still don't get it :D

If I do a giveaway for "Europa Universalis IV Extreme Edition", then give the winner the key for "Europa Universalis IV: Digital Extreme Edition Upgrade Pack" via SG, then befriend the winner on Steam and give him both keys for "Europa Universalis IV: Pre-Order Pack" and "Europa Universalis IV: American Dream DLC", does that count as "Giveaway received"? Will a check via SGTools for the winner then check out clean or will it say that he did not activate his win?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

does that count as "Giveaway received"?

Then and only then the winner gets the correct Extreme Edition content, yes.

Or you just do giveaways for the base game (2x) and the DLCs (Pre-Order, American Dream) separately and spare yourself this, plus get more CV.

Will a check via SGTools for the winner then check out clean or will it say that he did not activate his win?

SG Tools can't check DLC ownership, neither can SG*. But it would appear that way if it could.

*: rare exceptions apply

On their site: https://www.reddit.com/r/eu4/comments/56yfd6/free_unit_dlc_evangelical_majors_unit_pack/

Seems Paradox, in their infinite wisdom, gave away keys for the Catholic unit pack but called it Evangelical because they're just that silly. Now those and an extra music pack can just be claimed free on the store.

They later changed the key sub to be free on demand: https://steamdb.info/sub/83157/apps/

Edit2. So I understand Extreme Edition can be given away, but two keys must be given-but that still makes the CV of this tier higher, right?

Comment has been collapsed.

Sorry, I missed that you also have to give away The American Dream.
39.99+4.99+6.99 separately or 44.99 if you give away all three as Europa Universalis IV Extreme Edition - at least that's the store price I see. No idea if it's also the CV.

maybe , but i have no time and i don't understand well . Why there are expansion AND content pack with the same name . Majority of dlc have both , the content pack is only units right ? so if these are in the expansion of the same name it's ridiculous, what is the differnece ? improved mecanichs or new lands to conquer ?
Paradox game are rich in content but have a lot of dlc it's a mess ... specially for a newbie ^^'

Why there are expansion AND content pack with the same name

The idea is:
You buy the expansion for extra gameplay things, and then can buy a 'content pack' for more cosmetic things like 3D unit models or music to fit that expansion's theme.
Every 2015+ expansion has such a Content Pack released for it.

An Immersion Pack is a mix of some local gameplay changes and some fitting cosmetics, so Third Rome for example enhances playing as Russian regions. The three Immersion Packs are all included in this bundle, in T3.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

ok thanks it's a little strange to have extra gameplay but not units of the expansion name/theme based like cossacks for exemple .

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

The units are there, the content packs only cover the art. So you will wage war with the same units no matter if you own the content pack or not, but without the pack they will all look alike while with the content pack provides a greater variety with the unit graphics.
It really doesn't matter at all if you have that stuff or not.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

That's just Paradox's ever-confusing naming scheme: "content pack" essentially means "bundle of minor DLCs released at the same time as the homonym expansion, and vaguely related to its content".

They even tried it with Crusader Kings 2 (minor DLCs were sold separately before), but stopped after only three content packs (due to backlash over the confusion, I reckon), and started including them into the main expansions, for no additional cost.

While testing keys I wasted the Extreme Edition. Ironically I already owned all the content from pre-purchasing the game years ago: https://steamdb.info/sub/28320/apps/ , I was just missing the entirely pointless "Upgrade Pack" app ID entry which Paradox, in their unending graciousness, chose not to add to this sub (but to a number of others that serve the same "Extreme" purpose like https://steamdb.info/sub/28286/apps/).

Was too busy to go check sub ids
