"Remix" is an alternative version of a pre-recorded work.

what are you talking about? a cover can be in any style but a remix has to include some element of the original recording. believe wikipedia if you don't believe me:
"A remix is an alternative version of a recorded song, made from an original version."
"Cover versions of many popular songs have been recorded, sometimes with a radically different style, sometimes virtually indistinguishable from the original."

Silly of me to just copy those short quotes, I see how you're interpreting it.
The difference is that a remix is editing the original audio recording (like say, starting with an MP3 and adding new sounds to it) while a cover is a completely new recording of the song.
That band is playing someone else's song, there's none of the original song recording included, so it's a cover.
