people arent always on when the giveaway has ended. usually you'll get the gift in email or they might add you on steam. Usually takes them like 2 to 3 days to get to you (from personal experience)

even if you are happy and excited, 99% of the time they dont want you to add them first.

No not really, you don't need to be on the forums. If you win a game, you'll see a green banner in the middle of the screen, just be patient as the giveaway maker has ONE week untill to give you the game, if he doesn't, you can mark the game as not recieved.
