You utter muppet, do you really think all girls like the same things? :p
If it were me I'd be happy with a GeForce 680, but other women might want flowers, chocs, clothes, shoes etc.
Whoever it is she'd probably appreciate being taken out for a meal or something nice.

Yeah, I know that I prefer video games, Hello Kitty stuff, and even a simple meal. Flowers are nice but they die too quickly. Chocolates are good but I'm not much of a sweets person and I'm sure there are others like that. Clothes... I much rather pick those out myself.

Have to agree.. D: Unless you know her taste in clothes very well.

Depends on the girl (not everyone likes the same things) and the occasion.

Because they are vastly different things xD Unless you mean a fish-shaped mirror?
Disclaimer: (I'm sorry for poking fun at the miss-spelling, I know which you mean really. Please don't take too much offense.)

self made cake. can easily be done in under 2 hours.

That depends on the female and your status to her (good friend, girlfriend etc) ;) Is she materialistic, then you can go with jewelry. Is it just a good friend a book she likes to read will do. If she is your girlfriend, then she might expect something special (maybe something selfmade or something that shows her that you were paying attention to what she likes).
If you don't know anything at all buy chocolate and flowers. But please, don't buy a standard chocolate. Better go to a confectionery. ^^

Sweets > Flowers. But I'm a glutton, so I don't know. I'd much rather get the cheapest steam game from my wishlist than something expensive I'll never have an use for. :')
What kind of girl is she? And why did you wait for the last minute?

You can blame me for having a penis in the usual attached location, but when my eyes scanned over your first sentence, I read "the first week this beast came into our home I DID it on our bed".
I quickly reread it because wtf that doesn't sound right, but I thought it was amusing (if embarassing) enough to share.

you can get some cool pen, key ring, or something like this and use laser engraving to write her name or something cool :) so that item to be original.

It depends on the girl.
My sister would like toys about things that she likes, like a tiny equine that is mine figurine, or World of Warcraft plushies.
Personally, my ideal gift would be cash, just because it's so versatile and also I am a cheapskate? Try to stay away from things like cookies/candies/cakes if she's a glutton, though. Every day is a struggle to keep from consuming my weight in butter and sugar, and whenever I get a sweet as a gift it really doesn't help.

What do girls like as gifts, besides me ofc. Also something that that wouldn't cost me a fortune and takes under an 2 hours to get, I'm kind of in a hurry..
Background: She's 17, a close friend whom I haven't seen in quite some time, charismatic, likes Jazz, sympathetic, playful, over-flirtatious, and never forgets a bad gift(Bioshock seemed like such a good idea at the time)!
Thanks for all the advise, in the end I just went with my gut.
