Shovel Knight: Can a keyboard work on the game?

I've been keeping an eye on Shovel Knight since it came out, but I want to know if it's Dark Souls unplayable in terms of using a keyboard. I don't like games that rely on a controller and buy ones that can at least do decent with keyboard/mouse. Is Shovel Knight 100% recommended for controller or can a keyboard work on it too?

Well I finished the game using a keyboard. The controls are great either way.

Shovel Knight like they've all said is great on a keyboard mostly due to it's simplistic controls, and it's well mapped keys.
