There is no such thing like non-original? And no there are no problems using any controller you want on your steam, because I have lot's of controllers and all work and every controller is diffrent type and all are about 5-10$ each.

I have this Wireless Controller by bigben. The price was around 20 € if I remember it correctly and so far it was quite good for that price. After two or three years of not that intense usage one button (button 10 which would be start I think) isn't working well anymore. Many games were okay with it but some refused to work. In Darksiders 1 for example the camera view was stuck to the sky which is the game's fault I believe. In Darksiders 2 it works when using x360ce. Next time I will buy a wired original Xbox controller, they aren't that much more expensive but have better quality.

You have the best argument right their. A good non-original XBox controller is not really cheaper than the original one. I paid ~25€ for the original XBox controller (wired).

25€ would be good to me, the only one I've found was 36€.

On amazon (the German one for me) the wired one costs 28 € and the wireless 40 € which means the wired original costs a bit more than the wireless imitation. Back when I was buying my controller the wireless original was priced above 50 € so in the meantime there has been a price drop at least.

If you don't mind the cable get the wired original and you will have a solid controller for a reasonable price. If you want a wireless one you can either try your luck in finding a solid imitation or bite the bullet and get the original. With the imitations you have a chance to get a cheap controller but also the risk of it falling apart soon. I took the risk and the controller was okay but next time I'll get the wired original.

Love or hate Xbox, their controllers are spectacular. I recommend just getting an official one. They are amazing.

Depends on what you are going to use it for. The D-pad is horrible, so if you intend to play D-pad heavy games, then don't get one. If you intend to play games where you use the sticks a lot, then the 360 controller is among the best in its price range.

Well since I already had an xbox, I went for the Wireless adapter with (new) controller for PC (simple button press to switch between platforms). But if you on a budget, any store has $25 dollar usb controllers for PC/Xbox. I wouldn't recommend going lower than $25 because then you get tiny or weird shaped controllers.

I would download it so I can test it before I would buy it, maybe I won't like a non original controller.

I have two Logitech controllers. Both are in very good state after many years of use. Lately, I've played few games that accept only the original Xbox controller by using X360ce.

Recent Logitech controllers support Xinput though, so those should support everything that the 360 controller support.

My Logitech one has never had an issue with anything as long as it support the official controllers as well

I have a Thrustmaster GP Xid, there is really no reason to buy an original from Microsoft which cost 30-37€, mine and Logitech Gamepad F310 cost less (18-30€), same Xbox 360 controllers for PC, and Windows recognizes them as an Xbox 360 one, and they work equally as the original from Microsoft. No emulators needed on mine, is "plug & play", all controller supported games recognize it.

The only difference are the buttons, some controllers have them more smooth or thick, this depends on your taste.

Also my suggestion is getting a controller with the bump of the left stick shaped outside, not inside like in the original Microsoft Xbox 360 and my Thrustmaster GP Xid, from my experience the grip of this stick is not the best in this two.

Just in case there is some sites like this one where you can make "your own" Xbox 360, Xbone, PS4 or PS3 controllers for PC/Console with your design, extra buttons (macros), glowing in the dark, etc, but I don't recommend you buying from there because prices are ridiculous.

I bought a xbox controller from GameStop more than a year ago and I'm still using it from time to time. Just today...played Lego Harry Potter with it and it still works fine. XD

I've have a Logitech F310 with XInput compatibility, and for me works fine, but I don't recommend this gamepadpad for shooters and high precision games because of build in Dead Zones.

I have one Speed-Link with XBox look, the only problem is that u may need a emulator to act like a xbox360 gamepad.

Check the back of your controller, it has a toggle that changes between XInput(for xbox360 like games) and DirectInput(for old games).

Did it once, would never do it again. A original xbox controller is not so expensive and delivers the best experience. And most games that support gamepads have the standard controls designed for the Xbox-Controller.

Bought one of eBay quite cheap. It was supposed to be genuine, but turned out fake. It still looks and feels nearly the same, except the right trigger felt like it had a loose spring. Windows also recognized it as a 360 controller without a hitch. But, then the left analog stick failed after not a significant amount of use, so that was that. Still have it since I could use it for parts, though. I then bought a genuine one for about $5 more and it's been fantastic.

I bought an XBox 360 look-a-like wired controller on Ebay about 1.5 year ago for 19 USD incl shipping from Hong Kong. It's still going strong. It's a sturdy controller and I use it to play all games that play really crappy with M+KB. This thing has fallen from my desk many times and it's still going like a beast.

In my country that would be 20€ vs 27€. Not worth the "risk" (already tried + liked the regular Xbox controller, easier to find, substitute and resell, etc). :)

I've got myself a SPEEDLINK Xeox Pro Analog Gamepad - and it's GREAT! It has DirectInput and XInput options, so almost any game can see it - old and new =) The sticks are cool, the triggers are a bit softer that the original. And the surface is SoftTouch - it's like holding a kitty in your hands. Really, you should at least try it =)

?? What do u mean non-original ?? I bought Tracer Proton Shot years ago and it still works perfectly. There had been only few games that cant detect it (Splinter Cell Conviction, Guacamelee). Otherwise its a perfect pad (fine for me, Im not much of a pad-gamer). It has a regular USB and..umm...PS or XBOX connection. Not sure, never had a console. The plugin is wide and flat.

Anyway, its a good pad :P
