Then it will go from F2P to $5:

Our plan is to shift the game over to $5 Premium (i.e. pay up front) on October 17th along with the brand name change.

(...)

Anyone who already has a copy of the game will keep their copy, for free, forever.

Anyone who has the game in their steam library between now and the 17th will also keep their copy, for free, forever.

So - tell your friends or anyone you think may be interested to own the game in future, that right now is the lowest price the game will ever be (i.E. Free!) and to get it now.

New announcement:

Hello Gamecrafters,

We have a big announcement to make. The planned move from RobocraftX to Gamecraft and from free to pay-up-front which was scheduled to be on the 17th of October will now be on the 24th of October, so you have an extra week to get the game forever for free now as long as you add it to your library before the 24th October.

Why they got Robocraft and RobocraftX? Confusing.

Because it's an entirely new game started by the same team so they temporarly kept the same name (plus X) to the initial alpha tests.

Is this different from the original Robocraft? I haven't played that one since back when it was still in early access.

Seems more like you can build what you want.

Yeah, got that from the description on the store page. It seems to still be about building vehicles but now you can do more that just shot each other and can also build other stuff. Seem nice, and can't say no to free :P

The game is completely different, it has nothing to do with the original Robocraft. It is more of a Scrap Mechanic clone.

The franchise and the developer have had an interesting history, to say the least...

  • So Robocraft has been around since 2014. I left it in 2017.
  • IIRC these past 1-2 years, the devs started working on some other game - A Robocraft spinoff or a completely different game. That pissed off many people because Robocraft felt abandoned.
  • They tried to create a separate Robocraft Battle Royale, but that lasted a few months and they stopped the alpha/beta indefinitely.
  • Last year they put Card Life in Early Access and released it this year.
  • Now since May, they've started RobocraftX early access which appears to be a community game maker platform - Perhaps like Roblox?

Did I get the history right?
