are you an employee o EA?...
that idea sucks, people with pirated games can play online, they just need to wait for a proper patch, or use some system to hi-jack the game and play in LAN using Hamachi or something like that...
and, adding multiplayer to games that are not made for multiplayer is a waste of resources...
probably if companies stop trying to sell games for 60 bucks, and give some attention to those region where piracy is a big number (like Latino America), instead of just ignoring the whole region, maybe then, they can prevent some piracy.

Games are meant to be singleplayer. Multiplayer is a just an add bonus, which in my opinion suck, because they should work on the singleplayer more than the multiplayer.

They need to lower the prices in poor countries, like they did in russia, why they dont weant to do the same in eastern europe? Multiplayer or not, but people will not buy the game for 60 euros when they get 200-500 euros monthly salary.
And your thought about MP in all games is stupid. I dont even try MP in most games.

This. For definite.
Ive just moved to mexico from the UK. In the UK, retail games are about £30 / US$45 / MEX$600 for PC,
£40 / US$60 / MEX$800 for Console
in Mexico, PC games are all over the place. Diablo 2 is MEX$400 - US$30 or £20. It's probably under £5 in the UK.
I wanted to buy starcraft 2 last time I was here, but the only version i could find was MEX$400 and it was time limited to 6 months. 6 MONTHS. Fuck that.
Console games here are MEX$1000 - US$75 or £50 UK. However, pirated games are on ever street corner and it costs £10 to get the console modded.
So yeah. For the most part, developers are idiots - The average Salary in mexico is about 1/10th that of the US or UK

Singleplayer game = Not worth buying... probably you will play 6 hours and delete it from PC.
SP + Multiplayer game = 6 hours + UNLIMITED HOURS OF FUN IN MP = Worth buyin.
I pirate most of the new games which don't have multiplayer.
But if game which i pirated was really good and it haz multiplayer i always happily buy it for MP.
The prices are amazing in other way in some countries...
MW3 On steam was 60 bucks... for 60 bucks i can buy 2x MW3 in Poland.

Most games and movies which attempt to stop piracy, ends up only hurting the purchasers (while not affecting or just slowing down the pirate for a day or two). It also costs a bundle extra, which gets charged to guess who, the purchaser. Online activation fails on a lot of people who actually purchased. GTA 4 is a bad example of pirate protection - people who purchaed are left with a slow, buggy version, forced install spyware/anti-pirate software over top which runs 24/7 even outside the game, microsoft online, glitchy memory problems, having to re-install the DVD multiple times for it to install and activate correctly. The pirated version was actually better quality, ripped all the lagware from it, ran smoother, didn't have as much issues, etc.
The only one to get in correct so far with protection is Diablo III, most game content/items and save games go on the actual server, but if the user is left without a internet or their connection is slow, they can't play. The pirates can't play the offical servers, but have still can make their own...
Games without any security such as The Witcher, people still regularly purchase because of it's quality.
Conclusion, stop worrying about pirates and make quality games = less pirates, reasonable pricing, more people willing to purchase and support the devs.

I disagree with you my friend, because I bought some games without multiplayer as Batman AA&AC and I regret about Battlefield 3 (I suffer a lot of problems with the game) and I don't have plans of buying any COD because of its DLC's
I had to admit I pirated games but before you start litting your torches, Let me explain something:
In argentina, it's almost impossible to buy an original game if you don't own a credit card, also games usually costs us 5times, but because we don't own a credit card, the game costs us more than 8(or10)times with a retailer, and also some games are forbidden in my country which makes more difficult to buy a game.
Even with all the problems I mentioned, I had bought a lot of original games, some as Batman Arkham series and they don't have a multiplayer, or even dark souls. In my opinion if the game worth my money (even when here everything is extremly expensive) it deserved to be bought, but we need a better way of payment, at least in Argentina, because it makes very hard to buy games and that makes piracy the only option in some cases.

You are parting from the idea that piracy can be prevented, which is not true, making everything else pointless. Even assuming it was possible, your solution is definitely not going to make any significant changes. I can only speak for myself and the people I know, buying games here is hard. You need an international credit card, which requires you to be over 18 and have a job, requirements that many people don't meet. You also have to pay in US dollars, because steam store doesn't support our local currency (and pretty sure it doesn't support any south american currency either) which is extremely expensive due to exchange rates and additional fees.
The problem with piracy is not the quality of the games, it's the fact that buying them is borderline impossible for a lot of people. Not everyone pirates because it's cool or because they are cheap bastards. I've bought a ton of games, then had to cancel the CC and now have practically no way of buying games.
Also noteworthy, we can't transfer paypal funds between 2 accounts registered in Argentina.

I dont play multiplayer. If they make more multiplayer a lot of us antisocial types will just buy less games

They could just make games cheaper, bring the price back down to like 40-50 dollars. Every game I have pirated, I eventually bought!

If devs want to prevent piracy they need to put multiplayer in their games. Many many people pirate games that are most single player because it's exactly identical to the retail. If people pirate multiplayer games, then they won't get the multiplayer benefits(only cracked servers which sucks). So what do you guys think?
