Hi,
does anyone know how the new Deus Ex package works on steam?
I just bought the game on Greenmangaming. I would like to know what happens if I buy the complete pack on steam now.

Will I get a giftable copy of the maingame? Will my game expand to the Augmented edition or will it just stay the same wasting the new buy.

As Im not sure If I want every DLC I like to buy it as a gift. Will I get them in a pack or or can I choose which DLC I like to use myself or give it away.

Would be nice if anyone can help me.
If not, have fun mates (otherwise too)

:) Thanks!

If any of you don't own any of those games, redeem yourself from that sin.

It's -75%, for fuck's sake

Definitely buy Invisible War. It's the best game of the series!

No, you can't get extra copies buying Deus Ex Collection, see here.

just buy all of them separately and store them at your inventory, then activate that you want

Or if you want to trade or gift it just give the gamersgate key. After buying the pack on steam.

Or have you already redeemed it?

the missing link should be The dlc for this game, i might buy it but it's in € not $$ ... steam price logic is not nice with not usa people

Doesn't Augmented Edition means you get access to some artbooks and trailers and other movies, and no actual in-game content?

As for DLC: getting that mission DLC is not a bad idea (meeting someone from DX1 is always nice ;) ), other one isn't really needed (unless you're a Doom double-barrelled shotgun fan and just want to have some action with it) since this game is more about stealth then sniping people. Missing Link was few more hours of DXHR fun, which is always nice :P .

The is no point in buying collection if you already have something, the difference here is 0.91€, just buy what you want.

I still don't know whether I should buy The missing link or hope I'll win it...

edit: oh...yeah, I'd love to go for a second play through if it weren't for those damn bosses (especially second and third..)

I'd say it depends on how much of the collection you already own and whether or not you get extra copies of duplicates. Since extras aren't normally given, I'd suggest weighing the cost of the collection against the cost of buying what you're missing (and want to get) separately, and going for the cheaper option.

Well let's just say that no matter what you're buying it's cheaper to buy it separately if you already own something (I checked US, UK, EU and EU2 prices).

I didn't check, so in this case, you may be right. That may not be the case for all such packs/collections though.

I know, it just happens too often that people just buy the collection without checking how much they would save.

Thanks for the info. I saw this earlier today, too, and was wondering if I should get it. It's a good discount since Steam doesn't often go more than 75% off from what I've seen, the games do look kind of interesting, and they seem to have good ratings/reviews (at least what Steam quotes). Given the genre tags of action and RPG, I was a bit concerned that it would be too RPG for my tastes, but decided to go for it anyway. Human Revolution's description that it "blends the best of Action and RPG: the perfect mix of combat, stealth, hacking, and social gameplay" made it sound pretty cool. Hopefully I'll enjoy the games.

I think the original post has been answered, but as I understand it, you don't get extra copies of games when buying bundles unless Steam explicitly says you do. The pack says the augmented version is included though, so I'd guess you'd get upgraded, but I don't really know for sure.

Edit: BTW, on a little looking, it seems like the order in which the games were released (Deus Ex, Invisible War, Human Revolution) is not the chronological order of the story lines in them (Human Revolution, Deus Ex, Invisible War). Which is the preferred order of playing the games? Thanks!

I'd go in the developpement order. Easier to get in (graphics and gameplay style evolution) and most likely Human Revolution is made so that returning Deus Ex fans don't feel like they made a jump backwards.

The first is worth it. There is a DX10 mod you can get some someplace (Google it) that makes it look a lot more modern. The game is stunningly awesome. Invisible War is actually pretty decent too but is the weakest in the series. I enjoyed it though despite it's streamlined inventory and ammo management. Invisible War definitely feels like a console port, but the action is still fun and the story is quite good.

Deus Ex is definitely the best of the 2 older ones. I still play at least 1 game every year since 10 years ago.

Deus Ex : Invisible War has to be played (Deus Ex's direct sequel after al) but has many flaws along some nice stuff.
As Raverkid says, ammo and inventory management is typically consolified (for that time) with universal ammo and 1 item = 1 slot inventory compared to the 1/2 ammo type per weapon and classical RPG inventory for Deus Ex.
The game also eats a very large amount of ressources due to either bad port or poor optimization, not that it shuold be a problem for nowadays computer (mine can't run at at full).

Most likely the best graphics mod you could find for Deus Ex would be HDTP mod used along New Vision mod. For a quite detailed wall of text of an installation process this page on the Steam Forums is very useful.

Basically it makes the game go from so nostalgic old school to an enbetter high res version.

Frankly, for someone like me who played the game almost after it's release, I almost prefer the original version with just increased resolution, nostalgia and its large claws. Also, activating a part of those mods (don't remember which) in the game makes way slow down enormously due to heavy recquirement on the GPU (once again my rig is old and crap so no worry if you can load Human Revolution).
