The controls were bad, the UI was lazy, and it was just all around ugly to look at. It got repetitve almost as soon as you popped the disc in.
The game just felt cheap. Like it was made as quickly as possible, just to make a quick buck during the holiday season. That was all but confirmed to be the case after they managed to churn out another 2 within a years time.

I hadn't played this one before, but the style and palette reminded me of another Ultra title from my NES days that I played to death, Skate or Die. Kings of the Beach looks pretty neat, I'll have to give a try some time.
