What should we do now.?
let's see, usual scene in tentacle porn - 3 penetration tentacles for vaggie, anus and mouth plus 2 sucking ones for titties. add 4 to outspread limbs and 1 extra to hold whole body in one position... I'd say 10 is a bare minimum. Ofc the more the merrier :>

some people are. Few years ago some people tried to bann it in PL because "you are able to determine age of porn actress, you cannot determine age of a drawn character, thus you caould assume that she is a underage thus it should be considered a pedophilia porn"
Something like Orwell's thoughtcrime - we will ban hentai, because someone in his head while watching it may imagine that characters are underage people :D:

lol this is so stupid
Let's ban imagination then. Let's program people what they can't think about.

Kind of messed up really... http://www.theregister.co.uk/2011/06/30/smut_freakonomics/ and yeah drawn and CG sources could eliminate the problem with production causing harm and trauma if it's shown to be a good substitute; like they said though...first one to suggest trying it anywhere...good luck getting elected. Don't look at me like that >_> I may not agree with many kinds of porn or drug use but I will advocate for anything that can reduce real harm...the thoughtcrime direction theLaw and govts try go to make more money and prisoners/slaves is terrible.

I'm sorry but I don't understand your post. What are you trying to say? You want to eliminate hentai/cartoon porn to reduce potential harm? That's so extreme that it's pointless. If we would agree to that we may as well lock everyone up in prison to "avoid potential harm". If you meant something else then I'm sorry.

Yes.
The creator(s) of drawn porn only need to be good at it and be creative.
For real porn you need someone who can handle a camera, good lighting, a location, actors who know how to pose/act...
Also profession porn is mostly too "clean" (for my taste), and drawn is more erotically.

Exactly. However it is very complex to do proper research on the matter, as too many factors have a role to play. Research do however show, that a functional prostitution business has a positive influence on rape stats.
But come on. Common knowledge for men is that taking the edge off with some porn, means you don't go desperate or think about sex all the time. It's just dumb.

Interestingly enough one article on the ban mentions that it may in fact be due to more women accessing pron in the country. So it may be their gubment does not want women getting "ideas" about self empowerment through and over their own sex lives no less.
Edit for article mentioning the women/porn connection...the rest is my own conspiracy minded conjecture. http://www.dawn.com/news/1197955/outrage-and-amusement-as-indians-find-porn-sites-blocked

I'll need to see a source on that. Pornography studies are pretty difficult to perform since most of the time, there is no control (i.e., participants who have never watched pornography cannot be found).

Here's a news bit on a study from the czech republic... http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2010/11/101130111326.htm
Yeah sex in general is difficult to study...I'll just drop a bunch of links I'm finding mostly pro, fuzzy, or on the difficulty of studying it. Interesting reads, mostly opinion, there are links or mentions of various studies. And you can mull over it like I am. Some may tangent off:
http://www.slate.com/articles/arts/everyday_economics/2006/10/how_the_web_prevents_rape.html
http://catholicexchange.com/does-porn-prevent-rape (Thing is, like autism and other conditions statistics, the numbers aren't necessarily going up because more of it's happening but rather more and better reporting is happening)
http://www.theguardian.com/culture/2013/jun/16/internet-violent-porn-crime-studies
http://www.the-scientist.com/?articles.view/articleNo/28803/title/Porn--Good-for-us-/
Here's one on the addiction argument which is somewhat relevant: https://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/women-who-stray/201307/your-brain-porn-its-not-addictive - It's an impulse control issue not a sex issue. Like gambling and other "addictions" not based in physiological chemical withdrawal addiction, in my opinion.
http://www.christopherjferguson.com/pornography.pdf - More along the lines of what Nokkenbuer is looking for I suppose
or maybe this http://byuresearch.org/ssrp/research.html most papers cited by other articles and fluff pieces are aggragated pretty handily here it seems.
Honestly though the whole "cite your sources" thing is a bit trite online, no offense :P I'm a skeptic but generally when I see something that makes me incredulous and doubtful I just start looking up keywords and my own links to either support or tear down their statements without just having them go running around citing everything....This isn't my graduate thesis after all. I don't need a bibliography. I'm just throwing ideas out there and I'm open to modifying them as new information is brought to bear. You have access to search engines I assume and can find and build a 5 minute argument too, I would think.
More opinion from me...more porn, better regulation on all levels production, distribution, etc. and less stigmatization (good luck with that bit) and better economic means (equal pay and education) for women would reduce the need to do porn just for money and more for the hell of it.
A lot of this is old maybe you can find something newer?

Thank you for your sources, including the Catholic Exchange source (despite its largely sanctimonious moralizing). I still have my suspicions, especially since I dispute the effectiveness of cathartic activities, but if true then the implications may be to legalize bestiality pornography and child pornography as means of combating animal and child sexual abuse. It's an argument I've heard before, but one I've always distrusted.
I ask people to cite their sources because I believe it's a good practice to develop. I could probably find some sources myself via Google Scholar and elsewhere, but my goal is not just to verify the claim, but to teach my interlocutor how to properly investigate a claim and support it with scientific research. Sometimes, my interlocutor is more versed in this practice than I (or has access to more resources), so my request to cite one's sources can prove beneficial to me as well—namely, that they may provide sources I might otherwise not find. This particular exchange probably falls under the latter scenario. When it comes to citing your sources, though, I recommend saving your sources in bookmarks (and organize them in folders) for later citation. That's what I do, and that's what I did with the sources you provided me.
No, I cannot find any other sources about this specific claim. I've found others, such as that pornography can cause people to be less willing to intervene in instances of sexual violence and that pornography use can cause anti-woman sexual aggression, but nothing about pornography's relationship to rape and sexual violence in specific. I'm not finding the research you found, either.
EDIT: I have been reading a bit more into this and it appears there is still some disagreement in the scientific community on a number of issues. In particular, the issue of "pornography addiction" or "sex addiction" is hotly disputed with significant research on both sides. That PsychologyToday article is interesting, but it appears to be wanting; the owner of "Your Brain on Porn", Gary Wilson, actually came in and disputed (refuted?) the entire article in the comments section. At least on the matter of the neurocognitive effects of pornography on the brain, there is still uncertainty.

Ah well if you came in and said cite sources and just left (as does happen to shut discussion down in forums) I'd stick to my stance; but you came back :) Thank you. My brain got a good stretch just from reading your response and google scholar is awesome O.o. I have a bad habit of internalizing and forgetting. I'll drop my rhetoric till more is found. Also, since I'm not in the field and researchers don't even know it seems. Mostly they're making decisions to fit the data to a predetermined ideology.
I yield the floor. We'll have to see how it plays out and just observe best we can. (I agree about the catholic exchange lol)
The legal sovereignty of the people aspect is the other part that gets me....they haven't even passed a law in India...it's just happened. As if someone with power made a decision about this and did it.
Comment has been collapsed.
so the only reason men don't rape is because of porn?
Comment has been collapsed.
It's not a total elimination, no. Nor so cut and dry. Rape isn't always about sexual release but power so you'll still get a portion who do it no matter what outlet they're given...The data is fuzzy (heck maybe none of it relates at all making both sides arguements pointless http://www.gnxp.com/blog/2009/07/more-porn-does-not-lead-to-less-rape-or.php lol) and so it's worth investigating what all the factors are, biological as Notional suggests, sociological etc. It's important to allow safe non-judgemental outlets though (although the industry could be less exploitative and more empowering for women). And eliminating porn does not correlate to lower sexual crime rates. It's a moral and justice dead end.
Edit: Quite like the war on marijuana and drugs really.
Edit 2: Oh and alcohol in the US way back when. Pretty sure we know how that went what with criminals moving in on the industry, making selling, and distributing alcohol, illegal or not, and making tons of money then buying their way into goverment on top of it... Repression is never the answer. Try better regulation.

Only thing the asshole politicians ban is Fallout 3 and NV cause of Brahmins, Dragon Age Inquisition for implicating gay relationship and the list goes.

Ahaha +1...give us some of that european "socialism". No really we need it : / US is full of prudes and greedy people using religion to make a quick buck. They complain about entitlements, welfare, costing too much to help the old, poor, and marginalized (minorities), gut education but give multinational coporations hand outs and CEOs and politicians kickbacks without taking responsibility. Grrr.
