TIL kiken thinks a metre is about five times longer than it actually is and would prefer invisible walls.

I think he would probably prefer that the elements of exploration present in the main series, often thought to be one of the defining features of the series, be maintained. This means that maybe when you try and swim from the Morrowind mainland to Vvardenfell, maybe you can actually swim there and not get almost instantly killed.
That said, I personally would prefer invisible walls to doom fish. They disallow exploration, but this system actively punishes it by killing you. That is the main gripe I had with this game. It was far too linear for an Elder Scrolls game. Admittedly I didn't get very far, but I played for 6 hours without ever really feeling that I could go wherever I wanted. In the last three ES games, you get that feeling after maybe an hour, of gameplay, tops.
It was a very nice looking game. As a longtime fan of the series, if they had actually allowed exploring, I probably would have done that all weekend rather than giving up and quitting because I was stuck between enemies I wouldn't be able to kill without grinding. Combat wasn't terrible. I think the hotbar system actually translated somewhat well, but at the same time I felt skills were way too weak, at least at lower levels. However, ultimately, as much as it looked like an Elder Scrolls game, it didn't ultimately feel like one.

I actually find invisible walls take me out of the exploration mood more than anything else. With the slaughterfish, at least there's a reason I can't go that far out. When I installed Frostfall for Skyrim, I can't go that far out into the Sea of Ghosts because it's fricking cold and that should actually have some sort of effect on me. If you want to go from Morrowind to Vvardenfell, you're not ever going to find it in an MMO. A world that big would be difficult enough to craft in a single-player game. Notice how you couldn't swim to Solstheim in Skyrim, but needed a boat.

I played WoW for many years. It's a good game, but it gets old after a while. Pretty much every MMO out there uses the same formula with some variation (repetition!), since people consume content faster than they can make new ones.
I don't want to play another MMO ever, because they suck up too much time, since they want to keep you busy and playing. There's always stuff to do, even if it's the same thing over and over.
Despite that, there's a friend I play games with and she loves The Elder Scrolls, and we decided to test TESO together. I played it yesterday for several hours, got to level 5 with a Dark Elf Templar, and I didn't see any MMOwy thing so far (besides the multiplayer of course). Indeed, it's too early in the game, and I bet there'll be MMOwy stuff sooner or later, but I liked it that they really didn't try to follow a formula and worked around the Elder Scrolls gameplay. If that was all (Elder Scrolls multiplayer, and not really a MMO), I could even play it after the beta with my friend until we finished the game. :P
Anyway, the thing is, for me, so far, the game looks good! I have had some bugs and performance issues, but they are natural, and even expected at this time, so, nothing to say about it.

I just wanted an open world. Not a bunch of cage rooms linked together.
Plus the monthly fee? What is this, a game for people from the mid 2000's?

I don't know if I should laugh or cry at all the people complaining about loading times (in a stress test, no way) or loading screens (implying they never actually left the starting area, since loading screens after that are few and far between).

yeah its as if theyve never played a pc or indeed console game of the last 10 years or more, if you want pretty rooms in big game worlds enjoy spending about 1/4 of the time waiting for em to load, i have a book sat next to my pc for if the load times start to make me bored personally, so long as a game runs nicely when loaded ill live with load times

After playing WoW I didn't played any MMORPG and don't plan to do it, but sometimes I like just to try them, this game looks fun, but I expected it will look more like Skyrim in combat specs, actions, etc, but no, I can say WoW is a lot more funny to play than this, I never found any MMORPG funnier than WoW really, maybe ESO is better than Tera or I just thought it because I like the Elder Scrolls universe. ESO should be at least pay to play, because doing it free will only make "unprofitable and/or a lot of cheaters" come to play, you pay just once(but not 60$ which is expensive) and play whatever you like, and obviously without monthly subscription.
Definitely not worth buying even if it where pay to play, w/o monthly subscription, it takes over 10-15 min to load if you have luck, if not it takes forever, with my Radeon 7950....I'm really very annoyed.
The game I would really like is Elder Scrolls VI.

It cost $15 monthly, not $5. For me - not worth. Playing is nice - for me better than Skyrim.I don't supposed to play any game with monthly subscription. Much MMO is quite similar. They connect many good elements from other their games and MMO, so game is interesting. But paying once, and later paying monthly? No. Only reason to buy can be that it is not like other MMO's at higher lvl - paying to win. If game will be F2P I will play, otherwise don't think so.

played both of those and skyrim oblivion is best one for me screw perk points on skyrim progression should be more natural like in oblivion you are jumping you gains skill lvl in jump and eventually you'll be able to do backflips and sideflips as san example

It's awesome. I like it and I'll probably buy it.

I got into the beta because I knew I wasn't willing to pay a monthly subscription, and I wanted to try out the game while I had the chance.
So far I've seen exactly what I expected, the game is entertaining and fun so far, and I'm sure I will log many more hours this weekend, but I wouldn't pay more than a single fee of $15 for it.

Right now, I've been waiting 10 mins and my character doesn't load still.

Something something NDA.
But seriously, the game has so much potential. However, something still feels off when I'm playing. I don't know if the Elder Scrolls can really work as an MMO. In the other games, you play as the prophesied hero, destined to save the world. When you move a single player story into an MMO, it's you and several hundred other prophesied heroes, all trying to do the same quests at the same time. It just doesn't feel right to me. Still, there's lots of potential once the game is released and enough people are able to explore Tamriel. If they do factions right and allow members of guilds to take contracts on the other side of the continent, then that will allow for some great adventures. The Dark Brotherhood, once added, could allow for spectacular player interactions. For instance, Player A can perform the Black Sacrament on Player B, who is then hunted down and killed by a member of the Brotherhood. But that can only work if implemented right.
TL;DR: A lot of potential, but feels off right now.

The only thing that's "Elder Scrolls" about it is the title. It doesn't feel like an Elder Scrolls game at all, the quest system is horrible (extremely difficult to find what you're supposed to find) and the combat is unresponsive and quite lame. Imho, it's a horrible Elder Scrolls game and a very mediocre MMORPG.
I predict it going f2p within few months after release.
P.S if it wasn't for the name, I doubt anyone would even look at the game.
