Just got back from Iron Man 3 at the theater, it was good.

I need to start making a record of everything I watch, have a memory like a sieve which is terrible for threads like this.

If you can set aside four hours sometime to watch it, I really recommend it (plus the time will fly by). It's a bit all over the place; rom-com, a smattering of gore, a sprinkling of martial arts and perversion, and a huge dollop of melodrama.

How about "Cellular" I thought it was pretty good.
"The Great Debaters" is one of my favorite films.
Can't think of anymore...

Lesser-known:
Primer - (drama) an intelligently-done slightly geeky take on... physics.
Ink - (drama) an indie modern fantasy/adventure story that has some very nice design
In the Loop - (comedy) british insult-fest in a political setting
and +1 to alread-mentioned Idiocracy - (comedy) sarcastic take on the downfall of humanity in the future
Well-known, but who knows...
The Fifth Element - one of the best sci fi films ever
The Thing (1982) - one of the best tension horror films ever (I assume you've already seen Alien/Aliens); still holds up well today

MOVIES YOU'VE PROBABLY NEVER HEARD OF
If you're looking for something intellectual (can appreciate humor and intrigue most other people don't "get"), then try:
--Kiss Kiss, Bang, Bang
--The Matador
--Straight to Hell
--Around the Bend
If you appreciate "low-brow" humor, you could try these:
--It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World
--Blazing Saddles
--Pulp Fiction
--Hot Fuzz
Want something more "epic?"
--Hidden Fortress
--The Samurai Trilogy
--The Seven Samurai
--The 47 Ronin
--The Man From Nowhere
And now, for something completely different:
--Koyaanisqatsi
--Repo Man
--Spirited Away
--Pan's Labyrinth
That's a start....

"Zombie ninja nazis from outer space kick ass in 3D". One of the hidden gems of modern european cinematography. The main plot may seem naive, but there is a lot of layers to it, and a lot of subplots are told through cultural references and symbolism.
"Slave dolls 9: Japanese schoolgirls edition". Newest installment in world-renowned series that explores burning social issues of modern world. It's more of a documentary, but the direction and acting make it worth watching.
"Cute cats compilation 2012 <3:3:3". It's a web project, you can find it on youtube. Most people might say that it's only the sequence of videos with silly cats, but true connoisseur will understand that the cats metaphorically depict the story of French Revolution.
