Should I try to create another Game of Swords dungeon level
Still stuck on the logic problem of Tyre. Seems I won't find today :D

Bump for the first treasure I found :) Awesome puzzle!

Yeah, this dungeon is really good. I've just found the second treasure :)
Edit: BTW I noticed a typo in the basalt door riddle. "lft" should be "lift", right? ;)

I've gotten to the point where I have all the information needed for a few of the riddles, but I don't have the insight to solve them.
Stuck on Soothsayer, Logic, Riddle of Riddles, Recursive (might be missing one there), Egypt. Maybe one more.
Bleh.

For the logic problem The numbers that you have are indices (or indexes)
If that statement does not make sense to you, or even if it does, then may I recommend Mikalye's Magic Guide to Solving and Writing Puzzles ver 2 which covers how to work with those in some detail.
Of those, The Riddle of All Riddles is probably the most straightforward. My suspicion with that one is that you did not note down the clues completely. There was more there than merely the capitalised word.

I had already tried indexing, in a couple of ways. I even tried using the non-numbered clue (where something was "scrawled beneath") and that made it worse, heh. Do the shapes of the pillars do anything aside from helping you solve?
I did note down the clues completely and have found a running theme with the 6 clues. Tried indexing. Falls apart on the last one.

Yeah, I didn't figure I needed to answer that one, but of course it was a mistake. I built the grid, and stupidly added COD twice. Given that the grid has to do something pretty specific, I couldn't just deleted one of them simply. I swore for a little while while I figured out how to best fix the problem. Finally I just added COD twice to the word list.

are you sure? there's no-where else to progress now --> kriss-kross is missing list of words and sty-like is also unsolvable atm.. I do believe I need to do something with 15 words I found for laddergram but instruction as Each word in the 2nd column of a LG will consist of an anagram of the letters of the word to its left bar a dropped letter which goes at the far left doesn't say what is the goal. Am I supposed to be looking for similar word from column one to the next one in column 2, and if so - how will i find out the answer for doors? I just feel completely confused.

I'm not a native speaker myself and didn't come across a laddergram ever before, so I just used Google-fu: Laddergram explanation with example
And I'm using an Anagram resolver, although it gives out a lot of... strange words ; ) So I'm basically googling all the definitions, looking for synonyms, googling the synonyms, etc.
But so far I came only up with a solution for the first row of the laddergram. Good luck to you : )

Yeah, thanks for a tip - i have been looking into that as well while I was at work, lol
I don't have any idea about that riddle of reds though... i have tried something with shading and stuff, puttin numbers of shade colours in answer but nothing worked. To be honest - a picture and clue "I liked mr xy's idea" (who i never ever heard about before) is not much of help :(

Have a bump for now : )
My "stats" so far:
Hints are welcome, but for now I'm going to sleep ; )
Thanks Mikalye for all your work!

Thanks for your answer : )
I just read that for the Riddle of the Reds Paint should be enough. But I don't have any idea what I should do there. Just tried something new, but I really don't know how this could possibly help me ; /
Ahh, I already tried so many answers regarding this idea for the Riddle of the Beast, I'm a bit out of them, but I will try again. You gave me hope : )

Oh, synonyms, google and anagram resolver helped me to solve the first two rows in the laddergram ; D dances
To be honest, I didn't spot it before you mentioned it, but I think this is mainly because I did this the whole time. I tried numerous answers, but none of them worked. Though I don't want to give away too much here. I don't know how far you are into the dungeon, but perhaps we can team up and talk a bit about the riddles, so I added you on Steam : )

Ouch. Good luck with that. There are some good anagram and word pattern finding tools listed in the references section of my Magic Guide to Writing and Solving Puzzles. Shameless plug ends.

I agree with the barrier language difficulty for some puzzles but that's a reason more to have an accomplishment feeling when you finally solve it!

Someone already mentioned the state I have reached --> Reds (no idea), 9/10 clues for Mikalye (no clue), 8/? Tyre rules (no idea), 10/12(13) Ouroboros (no idea), Bacchae 6/9, 16/16 Praxidales (no idea), Riddle of all Riddles 6/6 (might try to check your guide again, no clue so far), Egyptian Gods 14/14 (tried thesaurus but did not find any key as several words were similar while some were not), Occult 13/13? (no idea), Prudent Tyre - no idea.
Generally I think I am pretty far but as already mentioned, some clues are probably shaded thanks to english not being my main language. I do appreaciate some of those I have already solved - they were fun to solve!

Mikalye...Having a lot of fun with this and put in A LOT of time ;)
I am deep in the dungeon and feel I am up against a wall, would you mind please to PM me and see if you might be able to give me a little nudge so I can possibly progress?
Cheers!

I have added the most requested feature - quick travel. Now you can just click on an explored tile (on the minimap) that has no chests or enemies on it to move there instantly.
This feature is enabled by default, but can be disabled by map creators (it might not be suitable for some map designs). It will also be disabled on a map that has EP cost per move.

That's great this can easily last a month for the common of mortals and even more!
I dream of a cross dungeon event where you have to explore 3 to 5 dungeons at the same time to resolve riddles _. (will be perfect to have a year whole occupation xD)

Yes well, this turned into an [expletive] on wheels to write. I won't do this again soon. I will stick to my roughly-once-per-week smaller puzzle. Indeed when SErVER51 released the editor, in the comments on that thread, I indicated that I was thinking of making a level, and Kuzurreesh wrote something like "You should make it Mikalye's 16th 2016 puzzle, since the 15th is probably too ambitious" (which I am paraphrasing as I am too lazy to go look the thread up). I was hoping for 17th, or maybe 18th. In the end, it ended up as the 21st after 6 weeks of work.
It will be October maybe, or possibly later when I have the time and inclination to do something like this again. I think two big events per year is the most that I can handle writing. There are those on this board who write many more than that, and that is impressive, but it is beyond me.

Ho yes iImagine it need a lot of time to prepare but that was just a thought and it'll maybe need a team to prepare it instead of a single person. I still have to end this event and I'm a bit stuck atm with occult/Mikalye and Logic problem of Tyre. can I add you on steam to verify my order on the logic problem?
Comment has been collapsed.
I've still only unlocked 1 treasure, but the black wizard has been defeated, so I think I'll be closer to that month estimate. :)
As for the multi dungeon exploring, that would be nice. Even already possible, since you can make 3(I think it is 3) dungeons at a time.
But I doubt anyone would make them as big as this one, for all 3. :P

This should be really helpful: Mikalye's hint for it

Ahhhh... Sorry about that. This takes 4 answers, but perhaps should have taken 6. The easiest of the accepted answers for me to clue ambiguously, is that it will accept the activity that is going on (that may not be the best answer, but the best I can ambiguously clue). If you need more, feel free to message me in steam chat.

Needs a bump.
Also I'm stuck, doors/chests to treasure and not enough clues to solve them...

I have promised this for a long time. I have published a number of puzzles (21 or 22 this year) on Steamgifts, but I have never really written an EVENT puzzle. I look with some awe at Jeffhowe's Food Pyramid, with puzzles, that lead into puzzles that lead into puzzles, and I have always wanted to try that. And so now I have. This is the most intricate set of nested puzzles that I have ever written. They are at various different levels of difficulty, and they lead to different giveaways, so everyone should be able to get some, many will get most, and a few will get through to the end.
There are more than 100 puzzles of various sizes (mostly very small) in this thing. I have tried to include and honour every form of puzzle that I could. You want a crossword puzzle, I put one in here. You want a wordsearch, I got one. You want logic puzzles, I've got two, You want a sudoku, there's even one of those in there. There are dozens of hours of work in this so I really hope that people enjoy it.
There are 14 giveaways and it all ends on 1 July at the now traditional time of 11pm GMT.
The prizes for this event are:
Hitman Collection,
Amnesia, the Dark Descent,
Middle-earth:Shadow of Mordor GotY edition,
Dungeons - The Dark Lord ,
Risen Franchise Pack,
Cities: Skylines,
The Talos Principle,
Double Dragon:Neon,
Mini Metro,
12 Labours of Hercules II: The Cretan Bull,
Skulls of the Shogun,
Thief Collection,
Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 - Uprising, and
Altered Beast
That's all you need to know really. The event takes the form of a Game of sWords Level and I call it Mikalye's Riddle Dungeon
A few notes on Game of sWords rules that don't get used in most GosW levels and I should reference here. These are NOT specific to my dungeon, they are part of GosW, but most levels don't need them and so it is important to emphasise them.
Doors and Chests in GosW that ask questions can have a penalty EP if you get the answers wrong. Most Doors and Treasure Chests in my dungeon have an EP cost of 10EP. That means that if you get an answer wrong, you will lose 10EP. If you get the answer right, you will lose nothing. However, if you do not have at least 10EP, you will not be able to attempt to open the door.
GosW have the concept of clues, pieces of paper that you can pick up and store in your notebook. However, every single [expletive deleted] bit of wall in my dungeon has a clue on it. There are hundreds of them. As such your notebook can quickly be overwhelmed. A clue can exist in only one place. If you pick it up, then it disappears from the wall where you found it, and appears instead in your notebook. If you drop it from your notebook, then it will reappear at wherever you originally found it. You can highlight any clue in your notebook, hit delete and save your notebook and that clue is gone from the notebook (and back at its original wall). Sadly, you will not normally get all of the clues for a particular puzzle together, you might get puzzle 1 clue 1, then puzzle 1 clue 2, then puzzle 3 clue 4, then puzzle 1 clue 3, so learning how to manage your notebook can be useful. Alternatively, you can take your own notes on paper or electronic paper.
Finally, I use ROT13 extensively in the dungeon, and I realised after I had published the dungeon that I had not explained ROT13 in the dungeon. Most readers of this will know it, but for clarity, you simply shift each letter forward or backward 13 characters in the alphabet, so all A's become M's and vice versa, B's become N's and so on. I use ROT13 to define a clue that is not needed to solve the puzzle, but is there to provide an in-game hinting system. So if there was, for example a rebus, with a picture of a Jersey cow, then a big plus sign, then a picture of a desk lamp, then a big minus sign and then a picture of a boy scout camp with tents around a bonfire, you could solve as COW+LAMP-CAMP = OWL (Note, there is only one rebus in the dungeon and it is easier than this one). You could probably do that without any hint, but I could include a ROT13 enciphered hint to say something like "the third picture is of a CAMP" (Gur guveq cvpgher vf bs n PNZC) or even "you are looking for a three-letter type of bird" (lbh ner ybbxvat sbe n guerr-yrggre glcr bs oveq). I would advise against deciphering the ROT13 clues unless you are stuck on that particular thing, but it is of course your dungeon to play with.
Do note, that I do get to see how many treasures people have encountered and where. If you enter a givewaway for a treasure you cannot possibly have reached yet, then I will be cross and call for a re-roll. Please do not cheat.
Lastly, I had a new year's resolution to publish a minimum of 52 puzzles this year, and I am still on target, but not if I do not publish for the month that this is running, so I will also publish puzzles to pretty much the normal schedule while this is live. Seeing Nordhbane running PA7 and PA8 simultaneously told me that this could work.
Enjoy,
Mikalye
