Require new members to check yes or no if they are scammers on account creation. Problem solved. You're welcome.

You should've sent half the codes (or so) for half the money and then the next half, or split it even more. I'm very sorry I hate scammers.

Where there are people there will always be someone there to take advantage.

Just coming on here and saying I've been scammed, but no details. Sounds a bit to little boy crying wolf.

You can't call out other users in forums, that includes scammers. This is because sometimes the scammer was impersonating a well known user and isn't who the OP is complaining about, and sometimes the scammer isn't a scammer after all, and the OP wants to start a witch hunt because they are a jerk.

I wouldn't expect names. But other things like how they were scammed, or what was scammed. If you can tell the method then you teach others what not to fall for. Was form a won contest or just someone saying I seen you on this site.

While scammers suck and I think this site should introduce some simple measures to help make it easier to identify a scam, I find it hard to feel sorry for you given you wanted $45 for a small number of bundled and free games.

Also, all your ****ing bumps.

why?

are you 100% sure the person that scammed you is the one registered here?
the same you wanted to trade with?

did you cross-check his profile (open the trader profile here > check his steam profile > compare to the person you were talking to on steam)?

many times scammers impersonate others by changing their profile to match the trader, then add you and pretend to be them.

always check that profiles match here and on steam.

1 - Best to remove the name, unless you want a suspension
2 - There is a chance you got an impersonator. That person has 27 trades, all over a year ago, with known users, all positive. There is also 2 negative marks, in the last couple of days, from newer users of the type an impersonator is more likely to prey on.

The first rule of Steamgifts: No one cares about Steam Trades.

I'd link the mod post where he said it too, if I had it handy.

Sorry about your loss, but it's impossible to make anything scammer free, like people said above, there always will be scammers, and people who just want your stuff for free for their own benefit.

But if you're careful, you can ensure your safety 100%, or at least, close to 100%.

It's just a common sense, they can use your keys, and you can't do anything about it, so just don't go first and that's it, now you've learned your lesson hard way and hopefully you'll be careful next time, sorry again for your loss.

Happy new year!

Edit, I'm not really sure how, but try to report that person everywhere you can, like on steamrep, also on steamtrades, give him negative feedback explaining politely what he did and how he scammed you, also report him on steam if it helps, hopefully scammer will be punished and people who'll trade with him next time will be aware of his scamming technique and avoid it.

Its pretty simple...people should not be able to be selling keys on their own. Either they got them for free and have no right to sell them in the first place or they full of it and are lying. Either way, if you aren't dealing with some sort of structured trading system that will protect BOTH SIDES OF THE TRADE just don't do it. Pretty simple really. ;)

No problem. Never really worth taking the chance in this sort of scenario. Its better to just wait for a Steam sale or something where you at least know you will get the goods, rather than running the risk of throwing your money away (and allowing a scumbag to profit off of your loss)! Anyway, sorry to hear about your experience man, sucks!

The scamming is pretty bad man on the trade forums. I posted a trading thread and I gottten 8 friend requests every single one of them is a scammer.. know how I know this? because every last one of them were perviously reported for scamming/imposter on steamrep... few of them were high level and had many games. not a single legit trader has responded..

This happens in every trading site, man. Just be careful and you're gonna be ok. There are good traders too.
