I dealt with someone like this about a year ago. Some girl (was probably a male though) added me because she/he/it thought I was interesting or something. Not too long after being my "friend" I vaguely recall them mentioning something about wanting to kill themselves because they'd just given away all of their Steam crap to a friend, and they started hinting towards them wanting me to give them things. One of the most pathetic begging attempts I'd ever seen. I don't think we interacted after that, and they ended up deleting me.

Sadly, threatening to kill yourself to obtain something, is not that unusual :S It's a powerful (and cruel) way to manipulate somebody. Ofc it also harms those who are really desperate and considering suicide, since people become suspicious of those kind of claims.

I had someone who started out like that, and my response was "Hahah, no". They didn't delete me or anything, and then afterwards we chatted on occasion about the release of some game and how we liked it (like he saw me playing a game once, and then mentioned how he had liked it, and even at one point chatted to me about the game he had been asking for, saying "I finally got it!").
Odd ways to make friends, but whatever works :D.
