First of all Welcome to our nice little corner of the internet :D
This is a collection thread with links to many helpful threads that cover almost all areas of SteamGifts.
I specially recommend:
Now on topic:
Free games can't be given away here but you can drop them on the forum or give them to a friend.
Basicly if you didn't pay money for a game (unless a developer or your grandmother gifts you a copy of GTA V) it can't be given away here.
It does not matter if the game has a price in the Steam Store.

Now I'm confused :) but that also might have to do with the fact I've had a few glasses of wine well actually Gspritzer but I don't know the proper word for that in english: It's white whine mixed with sparkling water with luch :D
Check the first link in my post ^^ the one in the word This

No worries :D I found your thread so useful I used it as a starting point for my pointers for new users and then also recommended a few threads from it so they don't get overwhelmed with information.

This is misleading. You can't know for sure if the user got the game he wishes to give away for free.

Is it? I was merely trying to prevent the It's not free it has a price on Steam argument.

I don't have to know because the person creating the GA will always know where they got the keys and if they paid something for them.
Of course there are also cases where people have legit keys for games that were given away for free like recently Victor Vran which was in T2 of the Humble Staff Picks Bundle and given away for free only 2 months later but I consider those collateral damage.
My opionion won't change anything about the fact that a game has been removed from the GA list anyway and I've stopped blacklisting people that give away free games ages ago.
But of course my explanation was still not entirely accurate since you can trade for a game (thus not directly paying money) or games that are free under conditions like for IGN Prime subscribers and those are completly fine to give away.

Also welcome :)
To improve your Steamgifts experience you should read everything in FAQ.

Well that explains it. Kinda stinks I can't drop them into the giveaway, but I'll figure something else to do with them.
I was unaware they were dropped to free at some point. I have some reading up to do, but for now I need to go to sleep.
Thanks for the info and links to look at.. I'll look at those later today.

you could create a special thread for it, I advice to scramble the key in some way like xhd??-dai/-efje ?? = yy, / = p, = m
Because there are some people that claim that there are bots roaming the forums, so this would block those, or use something like simple puzzle creator to make a simple puzzle and give the key as the reward when the question is answered correctly. The question can be something easy like are you a bot? or is water wet?

Simpe puzzle creator would be a more descriptive name although granted much less catchy...
The first time I saw an It'stoohard puzzle I didn't click the link because I thought it was porn :D Not that I'm averse to porn but still.

welcome, I think all the needed links are already given.
Like others stated those games have been given away for free in great numbers in the past.
somethimes they have not been added to the list yet so you can create a support ticket "add game".
A good way too see is looking at the release date, if it is new, great chance it needs to be added,is it old, it has been given away for free
I believe there is somewhere a list that has all the free games on it so you can check it there but I dont know the link :/

It's pretty complete. It's constantly being updated, at least as far as I know. It's saved me from buying a game for a giveaway on more than one occasion.:)

Good to know :) I just go the other way whenever I buy something I'm not sure about: Create GA and see if it's there.

I tend to do both. First I'll check that thread (I have it in my Favourites), and if it doesn't happen to be there (the game might have just been offered for free, and the thread's creator hasn't had a chance to update it yet), I check to see if I can make a giveaway for the game (before I buy it). That way I have two buffer zones.:)

A lot of people proposed a lot of topics, but the one with the list of removed games seems to be missing :)

This comes up a lot. Perhaps it might be useful if a line were added to the page used to create a giveaway written above the box to enter the game title, something along the lines of 'Games which do not appear in the list, such as those which have been given away free in the past, cannot be given away on Steamgifts.'

That's not a bad idea. Then multiple people have a chance to get the title but it won't impact the Eco-system here.

I want to gift a recently released indie game called Gatekeeper.
When I try to prepare the giveaway, the game is not listed. Any ideas? (the game is NOT for free)
Comment has been collapsed.
It only came out in the last 24 hours, give SG some time to update.
Also, please don't bump a super old thread - there are much more relevant threads to post, and if you had done a search first, you would have found your answer without this comment.
Also, under SG's guidelines:
Giveaways need to accurately reflect the game being given away. If the game is not available in the giveaway list, please contact support to have the game added, instead of posting the giveaway under an incorrect name.

Long story short, I have a number of game keys that I can't make a giveaway for because when I search for the game, it's not listed.
One game is X-Blades, another is Knightshift. Both games can be found in the Steam store, but aren't listed when setting up a giveaway.
Is there a limitation on some games? Is it because I am new that I can't give some games away?
Just wondering.
Thanks in advance.
