As someone who never got what was the appeal of those Pokémon games that were just battles back to back with nothing in between (like the N64 ones) this looks just as odd to me, but at least they're not charging for it like Nintendo does.

Oh, but they do charge, the full game is called Temtem. I see this more as an incentive to get more people into the main game. I'd have rather preferred they have allocated their resources to fix the bugs in Immortal Redneck or work on the 2nd part but since this is their new cash cow I can see why investing in the Pokémon alternative makes more sense.

Oh yeah, I'm aware that the main Temtem is an actual Pokémon-like game with all the capturing and taming expected of one, I was just referring to the fact that they're not charging for what's clearly just a side mode with everything but the battling removed. Last time I heard Nintendo was charging extra for the "luxury" of having cloud saves of one's pokémon let alone accessing any gameplay, so by contrast this is quite generous.
