Probably because people didn't read it through and started asking "why it's not free on steam".

The dev team have said that they are almost ready to give an official release date for Episode 2/the sequel, so I'd think giving the first one for free is more likely to be way to draw people in in anticipation that they'd then want to buy the second one. Lots of people forgot about the game completely I'm sure so this is a good way to remind them that it exist, haha.

Long time? The last news update was just little over two weeks ago. They were talking about how they still need to record voice acting but that the majority of the work is finished enough that they are almost ready to give a release date on Episode 2/the sequel.

Probably why they're giving this away in the first place.

I am not a fan of get game free but not cards. It will be played free but developer gets no revenue. cards at least generate revenue. Its a self defeating model. Very few people will bother to get DLCs on a whole. Majority among that minority prefer such cheaper on sale. So its not a huge driver.

If I remember correctly Steam forbidden free games to drop out cards some time ago.

Well, I just wrote it now, so that this same thread can be updated on time (still there is 2 weeks until this "deal"). I hope that
kilrahsu (thread maker) will also see this comment and update in title, so other people wont miss it. :)
