Do I really need a controller to play One Finger Death Punch?

I've seen a few reviews of the game and they say "do not get the game unless you use a controller".

Do I really need one?

No, U can play perfectly with mouse, or keyboard, just use "A" and "S" or "Left arrow" and "Right Arrow"

The only reason I'd see is to limit the clicking noise from the mouse.
Keyboard play might not be best due to potential lag with the key pushing.
