So I just finished watching the latest season for the Big Bang Theory and I'm now looking for a new good comedy show to watch. I'd like to hear your suggestions, preferable from shows with a similar format as the Big Bang Theory (short 20 to 30 minute episodes, mostly focused on comedy). I already watched Two and a Half Men and the Big Bang Theory.
Thanks in advance for all the suggestions!

Obviously I just needed a reason to make a bunch of cheap GA's:

It's not exactly a comedy, but Psych has fantastic humor and a lot of fun references. I highly recommend it.

Seinfeld is the only funny comedy show ever made. I never liked almost anything else (especially sitcoms) I have seen, comedywise. Some sketch shows can be funny too at times (The Fast Show). However some shows are okay even though comedy is not what makes them good (Frasier, Mad About You).

Not new, but it rewards watching from the beginning: Arrested Development. Stick with it for a few episodes, then watch all the way through.

ALF - A furry alien wiseguy comes to live with a terran family after crashing into their garage.
Married with Children Al Bundy is a misanthropic women's shoe salesman with a miserable life. He hates his job, his wife is lazy, his son is dysfunctional (especially with women), and his daughter is dim-witted and promiscuous.

Orange is the New Black is hilarious but also very sad so you get both a comedy and drama at the same time :) Bob's Burgers is great too, and Psych is a very funny show with smart humor.

Here are some of my favourite sitcoms in no particular order:

  • Scrubs
  • Frasier
  • Friends
  • How I Met Your Mother
  • The Office

I've missed many shows that I've heard are great (Parks & Recreation or 30 Rock comes to mind). Recent shows that I've liked and are still running are New Girl and Brooklyn 99.

P.S. I also recommend watching Whose Line Is It Anyway! They're a hilarious bunch of people. If you can't find the old episodes anywhere, you can find some sketches on youtube.

I know these have been said but they are so good they deserve to be mentioned again.
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia & The Office, and Bob's Burgers.
But the Big Bang Theory and Two and a Half Men are about as funny as cancer.

Can you please not joke about cancer (especially not when it comes to opinions...)? My grandfather almost died because of it. Thank you.

Two from my most recently watched: W1A and Veep. Would recommend both, though I'd think W1A takes a specific kinda person to enjoy it.

All-time favourites would have to include Frasier and 30 Rock! Especially 30 Rock is da s**.

I used to like Outsourced back when and am currently considering a re-watch. As well as the older shows Kate & Allie and High Society.

after writing that, would someone please tell me what it is with me and female-led comedy shows? like, seriously! hadn't realised this was a thing

Just watched the first Community episode. It's pretty good so far. I'll definitly look at the others on this list as well. Thanks!

Some of the shows are more irreverent than others, but I enjoyed them all. Other than Community—which gets better and better, it's a great show—I think that since you liked Big Bang Theory, you might particularly enjoy The IT Crowd and Silicon Valley. Of the older shows on the list, I'm very fond of both Dr. Katz and Home Movies, both of which are animated and both of which star Jon Benjamin (Bob's Burgers, Archer, etc). In Home movies he voices two main characters.

BTW, I loved 30 Rock too, so much so that I binge watched the whole series twice in a row. (^_^)

Also, Chuck, but it's not just comedy, and I think it's longer than a half hour.

If those two are the type of comedy shows you usually enjoy then in addition to The Community I'd suggest:

2 Broke Girls
Anger Management
Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23
The Guild
The IT Crowd
Silicon Valley

I looked at 2 Broke Girls before and it looks pretty interesting. The IT Crowd seems like something a lot of people recommend, so I'll definitly check that out as well. Thanks for the suggestions!
