As a guy with long hair I say no.
Heck, I've had long hair for the past 6 years and other than friendly jokes no one ever laughed at me for it.

I had long hair something like 5-6 inches but I'm curly so they didn't look really "long"

As a dude with long hair, it's very much personal preference. Girl reactions are split pretty evenly: half like it, half don't. But the opinions on either side are much stronger than with short hair. Use conditioner. That, and shampoo gets slightly more expensive. And there's an awkward point in growing it out where it looks bad, and won't stop flying into your face where you'll want to lop it all off again. Occasionally, from behind, someone will call you "miss" and then they get to feel really awkward and apologetic about it -- it's kinda funny.

I am a woman who keeps her own shorter, but I don't see why anyone would laugh at you. I mean, I know certain features or body types are still somehow seen as public domain for shaming (I belong in one of those, I know it all too well), but I do not think long haired guys belong there and even if they did, eff people who shame others for how they look.

Grow your hair and enjoy it. If you feel handsome when you look in the mirror and like how your hair feels when long, let it grow. And I am still pretty sure most folks would not find it odd or unattractive anyway. So don't worry. :) Beyond that, it is all about personal preference. Some folks will find you more attractive with it, some less. But that's true for aaaaall features and styles.

I've kept my hair about shoulder length for quite a while (10+ years), making sure it's trimmed and kept up, and I can't ever remember someone laughing at me for having long hair.

In fact, most of the women I work with and know hate me because they wish they had the body that my hair does lol. Also, long hair is just an excuse for women to run their hands through your hair.

Now if you are like this guy...you may get laughed at.

Long hair is an unpardonable offence which should be punishable by death.

Keep it clean, keep it neat, and have it be at a point where you are happy and content with it's length. That's all that is required I say.

I speak from experience of having long hair and short hair, been complimented for it, and have been laughed at it for it. Yet whatever my hair was at, I was always happy with it and that's what is important.

6 inches is nothing. I've had >20 inches and I was the most fabulous male in my school >.> I did end up getting a haircut since working out would make it quite greasy and I was wasting too much time on its maintenance, so you might wanna take that into consideration before you let it grow.

No, I have a long hair and nothing laughs of me (Some people say that I look like a medieval knight xD). The only thing is just that people stare at me, but there is no problem
