Can we switch gears away from this depressing shit and talk about the best jobs we've ever had?
Chief Ice Cream Maker - I'd wake up, look out the window, and decide based on the weather what time I'd go to work. (all ice cream was made fresh every day. on an overcast day, we didn't make as much). I'd be making smiles all day long, tasting throughout the day to make sure the batch was great, and I always ate an ice cream on the way home.
Best of all was when my brother, who I was living with at the time, pointed out that we owned a blender and lived on top of a liquor store

This is a great idea.
The best job I ever had was when I was an interpretive naturalist at a place called Moody Gardens. Moody Gardens is essentially SeaWorld, except focused on education over entertainment and doesn't have any dolphins or orcas. There's an aquarium, a museum, and a rainforest exhibit. And an IMAX theater, a ridefilm theater, and a 4D theater. And a paddlewheel boat. An interpretive naturalist, meanwhile, is kind of like a tour guide. We'd stand at our stations and teach visitors stuff about the animals and exhibits. And we'd make sure no one touched the monkeys. It was a lot of fun, best summer job ever.
pics or it didnt happen (theyre all from the rainforest exhibit):

working in a supermarket as the "products unloader guy" if it makes any sense
basically we were the shelves responsible, we needed to make sure to always refill them. And of course we had to answer each and every stupid questions customers could come up with, cause its not like we werent already showered with work from 10 o clock till 6 the evening.
and oh boy was it an awful job for shitty money, I barely lasted a week before being sacked (apparently they werent satisfied with my work but honestly they can shove it up to their asshole). Only redeeming about it was that my coworkers were pretty nice folks for most part, especially the folks who were unloading the frozen food and all that good stuff.
Suffice to say that it was the first and last time I ever took such job, you couldnt pay me enough to do that shit.

well, i once (as a student) did some cleaning of glass bubbles used to make https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galileo_thermometer despite wearing gloves the acetone was quite agressive to the skin on my hands - so i only did that for 2 weeks or so.
later jobs were better and better payed.
my advice to everyone: get as good education as you can, from my experience the better your education the better your job

eh. My best and worst jobs required the least amount of education. Of my jobs that required the most, there were moderately good jobs and moderately bad jobs. Plenty of high-education jobs really suck
I think it matters more what kinds of jobs suit a person's personality. Plus there's a lot of luck involved.

Technical support in a call center. The worst part wasn't even some of the people I had to deal with it. I could accept that. It was actually management making the job more difficult and stressful than it needed to be. That and it was exhausting sitting in a cubicle all day, even though there was not much physical exertion. I was miserable, it felt unhealthy, and I did it for longer than I should have. Never again.

When I was 19 I worked maintenance at a retail place. I got along with pretty much everyone there so it actually wasn't that bad of a job aside from one thing.....I had to clean the womens restroom every morning. I had plenty of those "I've seen things a man should never see, and cannot unsee" moments from having to clean up various messes often involving feminine hygene products with blood in them. People usually make jokes about dirty mens rooms but unholy crap they have nothing on that womens room.
I can deal with asshole bosses, asshole co-workers, and even asshole customers, but that was messed up..

I work as a game tester currently, still study to get better at programming though.
I worked as blue collar worker in shop fittings plant from 6am to 4pm shifts. It was about 15 km away from my home, so I had to get up at 4 am to take a tram. After standing work about 10 hours I didn't want anything except sit somewhere. Nasty job.
I worked also in supermarket as a merchandiser. I was placing dairy products on shelves,

I'm curious to know what the worst job you good people of SteamGifts have had.
My worst job ever would have to be when I worked at a pizza joint. Besides the weird customers (anyone in the food industry will know what I mean here), there was the manager. He was pretty sexist. I mean, he never trained any of his female workers and still got mad when any of us didn't know what we were doing....but would do seriously in-depth training with his male workers and show nothing but patience to them. And his FAVORITE worker was this guy who asked me really disturbing questions, like "Did you ever watch 2girls1cup? How much did you like it?" Not did you like it, but how much did you like it. Eugh. If these guys are not displaying some form of sexism, then idk.
That part was pretty bad on its own, but then theres the setting of this restaurant. I usually had to take night shifts, which wouldn't be that bad if the restaurant didn't wasn't located in a back alley of some ghetto, across the street from an abandoned amusement park. I kid you not. Creepy as heck. And guess who usually had to go take out the garbage to the dumpster a block away?
Yeah, I only had that job two and a half months before I quit.
....you know, working a creepy night shift at a job involving pizza...it actually sounds like a game I know...
EDIT: user dingbat suggested we start telling our best jobs ever, and that's a great idea that i didnt even think of because im meloncholy. so yeah, if you'd like, you can talk about your best job ever in this thread now. ^^
