To get to the essence of why anime should be abolished from Steamgifts, we must first recognize that Japanese are resentful losers and why their propaganda of mongolian rice tapestry is a final, insignificant bastion of spitefulness. In the 1930s and 40s, Japan was a ruling empire slaughtering millions of innocent Chinese and Americans, sometimes even extending their raptorial hands on repressed ethnic groups and Australians. They launched a sneak-attack on a Sunday morning, knowing that Christians would be praying, against the peaceful nation of United States in Pearl Harbor. I understand that history is no longer taught in American schools, and that's come about at exactly the same time as anime.

Anime, or as I refer to it, "Emperor Hirohito's Revenge", is a hallucinatory form of moving pictures that replaces reality with childish fantasy. Western animation is fantasy too, but it always has a moral compass. Tom is a cat, Jerry is a mouse. Tom wants to eat Jerry, Jerry shoots Tom in the face with a .45. And a strong moral lesson is learned.

But Japanese media in general has no such values, because it comes from the imperial Japanese (who had no morality) after they became even more nihilistic having lost the war and suffering two atomic bombs.

Anime is entertainment of the worst kind. It is simply wrong with plots ranging from the pseudo intellectual to the cheap 3 PM sitcom and there is nothing remarkable about it. The worst is that it tries to hide these flaws behind shabby characters whose excuse of progress is moving from antagonists to allies and vice versa, this while pulling some pathetic speech that is supposed to supplant credible reasons. The average academic recognizes that anime is garbage, and they may enjoy it, hate it or be completely indifferent to it, but all that while recognizing that the medium itself, regardless of their opinion, is simply bland and uninspiring.

The modern kamikaze decided to promote the cartoons of dystopic Japan in order to brainwash rest of the civilized world, hoping that the unrealistic expectation in cup size would make men apathetic towards real women, while at the same time keeping women at bay in their escapist vortex of satisfying but dishonest portrayal of what love actually is. And now with the tsunami, we can see how right we've been the whole time.

Oh and .

You mean how amazingly good it is? Seriously, western cartoons have become really good. I'm not going to start watching children's cartoons, I'm not that into it, but as I've reached the age where people around me art starting to have children, I've been exposed to more cartoons, and man, those things just blow everything I watched as a kid out of the water. Better storylines, better characters, smarter jokes, better animation quality. I feel cheated :(

I can't say it isn't amazing, but he says that western cartoons have their logical path (referring to Tom & Jerry). But well, the lastest cartoons are just random stuff in a explosive way. So they don't enrich you with life lessons as they used to do ( I'm not saying that all western cartoons are like that, I'm just based on the ones I've watched). At least some animes still try to teach or give you another point of view of the world.

I thought the ones that my friends kids were watching (I think one was Adventure time, don't know the names of the other ones) were quite good when it came to "good values", and there were not just a bunch of explosions, they had surprisingly intelligent plot lines and violence was not the go-to solution. Tom & Jerry and their ilk were a lot more keen on random explosions. Can't say anything about anime aimed at children, as I've not watched any, I'm just saying that modern cartoons seem to be teaching children far more healthy ideas than the ones that were on TV when I grew up (Transformers, He-man, TMHT (TMNT for you non-Europeans or modern people), The real Ghostbusters, Captain N and so on). Basically where the message in those cartoons was "BUY OUR TOYS! BUY OUR TOYS!" the modern ones seem to actually be aiming far higher. They are still children's cartoons, we're not getting the next Godfather from them, but they are surprisingly smart and, well, good.
And yes, I did get the "good" idea to re-watch some of the cartoons I grew up with. They sucked. My nostalgia goggles were not strong enough to make me think they were good (apart from a surprisingly dark episode of The Real Ghostbusters, turned out that that one was made by J. Michael Straczynski and that he made a few episodes that were not aired with the other ones). And no, I did not watch everything, only a few episodes from each.

You're right about that, but the ones like adventure time are ones that are here since a long time already, and with that time you gathered things for you, but it's a lot of just filler. And there aren't much western cartoons every season as anime series, there are just the ones that started and some point and are lasting forever.
What I want to say (I missed my main point), is that the new series are more expresive, with no fear of anything, just like anime does, but there are close to nothing new. And the big ones at some point lose the point. Just like every 200+ chapters anime...

(And about the old western cartoons. Yes, lots of them are nothing compared to the newer ones).

OP, according to Lorenzo Stanco's Steam Library Filters you own 217 games tagged as "Anime". If you really don't like such games, wouldn't playing 10 or so be sufficient to reach this conclusion?

I'm not that into anime to either say I love it or hate it. For me, it's just a form of presentation, the theme or content can vary a lot. Death Note was serious and well-written - Inuyasha well-written, but not so serious. Highschool of the Dead started out wonderfully only to turn into some kind of softcore pron. Fate Zero seems to have lots of content, though a little slow, and it's really serious, with lots of machinations. I'll never watch an anime just because it's an anime, I watch it if the content or setting looks that intresting. So what am I doing? "Tolerating" anime? I don't love it, because let's face it, how stupid is to love, or hate a genre that itself carries no value or quality, and repeatedly bring oup this simple sentence in arguements? The term anime is just as vague when it comes to quality as "FPS" The setting, the quality, the characters, the presentation, the basic-101-things, the ideas that make it unique can make or break a game, as well a movie, a cartoon, or an anime. I'm not familiar with the whole anime collection, but I'm sure that the animes have their own "The Stalin Subway" and "Mass Effect" level of animes. just tried to mention a god-awful and a good game that's a shooter/have serious shooter elements
edit: the only thing I seriously don't like in certain animes because it often destroys the mood: Bewbs. Boobs are great to watch, but not anywhere in any setting, smacked in the camera preferably as often as it could be. For example the mentioned Highschool of the Dead starts out as an awesome zombie story. Then some boobs happen, and you look weird because of bouncy-bouncy. Then, after a while, the story kind of disappears, but you can watch a guy shoot a bullet (using a girl's cleavage as a supporter for the gun) through ANOTHER girl's cleavage - which is moving a "slightly" impossible way- to shoot the zombie, then later somewhere girls in a single apron because yaay nakedness! :3 it's a good thing, but maybe I was just underinformed about the anime, but it was a letdown. Not terrible, but instead of 10/10 zombie action with some humour it became a one-time enjoyable boobies 'n zombies flick at about 6/10. aand end of the needlessly long explanation.

Videogames are as bad as animes. They should be banned from SG too.

There probably would be a game industry, it would just be a bit different. While the console market crashed in the US, it did not crash in the rest of the world. More importantly though, the home computer market did not crash, and it was quite strong in Europe (and in the UK in particular). Thus had Nintendo not made the NES, then chances are that the cheaper home computers would have filled its niche instead. And remember, some of those home computers (like the Spectrum) were actually cheaper than the NES was at launch.
