Cheat engine's speedhack should be able to do this. I usually have the opposite problem myself.

Use fraps, whilst recording you can cap the FPS to whatever specified.

i want to play in reduced fps. to pass a fast part on vvvvvvv

That would simply lower the FPS, not slow down the game.

I use to limit games that dont have vsync (also on my old videocard it was to reduce temperature)

Already mentiond before but what abou Fraps? You can lock the FPS to whatever you want (it'll record the gameplay but that shouldn't be a problem).

MSI Afterburner (and other RivaTuner based tools) have an option to limit FPS. This might not necessarily help, though - it depends on the game, some games maintain the same speed of gameplay independent of the framerate.

I guess you're on Veni Vidi Vici? :)

I managed to beat it years ago (unfortunately before it was added to Steam) but it took a long time and a lot of attempts. :) I played the game again recently and couldn't quite get it, but I didn't have so much time to spend on it.

Personally I think it's better not to cheat it just for the sake of an achievement - you'll feel way more awesome if you manage to beat it normally - but good luck either way. :)

well its not a high cheating because if the game is slow my controls response time will be too. soh lets just say that gives some headsache all this screen transitions huehue

I hate to be "that guy", but... the game really isn't TOO difficult after your first play-through. Just play it the legit way.

How does lover FPS make it easier? Time doesn't slow down with less frames.

quickly screen transitions dude :p more time to think is what i need. And time to set mentaly marks for where/when i should press the buton.

So you do want to slow down time, not decrease frames/second?

Permalink

yes and i get this doing exactly that! when i decrease frames/second the time slow BUT my response time slow too. so i will still die if i don´t play it well, even with the ''slow time effect'' of the decrease frames.

:) I Autohotkeyed my way through that -- I excused myself by figuring I'd have just as much of a sense of accomplishment of learning more about Autohotkey scripting as I would continuing to try to do it manually (I got very close many times!) -- and thankfully for the peace and happiness of my soul, I was right. :)

Also, I'll +1 Efreak's suggestion of CheatEngine's speedhack -- I've used that once or twice to play with other things and it's fun watching some things in slow motion that aren't necessarily supposed to be.

I'd recommend you to try to complete it without any software, you'll lose some mental health but you'll feel really satisfied.

I think VVVVV has the slowdown option in the "accessibility" section in Settings.

Download Bandicam, then limit fps to anything you want (set it as not recording then you're good to go).

Unless the game is bad programmed, reducing FPS won't change the game time, it'll just make it skip frames, so the game gets harder.

You need a program that actually makes the game think the time runs slower. I don't know of any, but it probably exists (although there are several methods to measure time, so you'll have to do some trial and error with several software and settings).

SlowMo is probably the tool you're talking about. This tool is pretty useless on modern computers, however, as the games that needed it mostly ran under dos, and would now require dosbox, which has the same functionality built in.

I don't know how to help you, but I have a cool story! We were making a video at high school where we needed to show some "running program in 70s computer laboratory" but we didn't have enough time to write and compile and... Cmdline worked just perfectly with its -tree C:/, but we needed longer footage - slow down framerate on that prehistoric computer. 50 copies of IE and ZIPing with huge compression rate running on background was the solution and we had cool, almost random text running a few minutes across the screen. End of story.

Just wanted to pop in to say thank you for the info in this thread. I have been thinking about trying to find something to possibly limit my frame rate in Final Fantasy 7, as I see no way I will ever get 5000 points in speed square at golden saucer without slowing down my game a bit in some way... I would prefer not to use cheat engine or anything to alter my game anymore than I have (used the cloud save booster since my buddy said it was not working, forgot to reload before saving again). I think as long as I can say it was a no code or address editing run, I will call it legit enough in my book xD.

The speed square is more about memory than reactions - 5000 points is tricky, but definitely possible. Perhaps to make up for the PC version's poorer controls, there's a little sort of cheat - aim for the zeppelin propeller (video), it's tricky to hit but pretty much guarantees a high score.

There have been programs to do exactly this since to 90's. Some of the old games use to run of the system clock which meant when you ugraded to a faster speed, things in the game happened faster, sometimes making it impossible. Moslo and CPU Killer are the most common. I have only used these for DOS games so cannot say whether they will work for Windows games. If you have trouble finding them try searching abandonware sites.

LOL rly? if you want to low your FPS use REFORCE that will force your monitor to slow down the fps.
If you want to slow down the game speed just use Cheat Engine, and activate Speed Hack. that's it!

you reminded me the good old times, when i used to play with a friend a tennis game on an old amstrad pc xt, the game run so fast we had to release the turbo button, which boosted the clock speed from 4,77MHz to 8MHz.
